Nestled in the Fells, once home to a herd and flock, there lies a delightful slate barn ready to rock.

A stones throw from Ambleside, the barn and Lakeland fields wait to come alive with the sound of love & laughter.

New but very old, its a collection of rustic spaces being lovingly repurposed by a family & their wonderful team.

Join their story with your own and be part of Lakeland history.

“What? In our old Barn?” was Hoggs response when weddings in the barn was mentioned.

Yes Hogg, this barn is glorious and can be more than a family party space or shelter for your ewe’s!

Hogg and Sharon live and work on site with children, dogs, cows and sheep. They bring not just brains and brawn but a lot of laughter too. Every event here is treated like a family knees up: Excitement, love and fun!

What is included when marrying in our Old Barn?

  • Crow How Guest House - Bed and breakfast for 19 guests, right next door and with stunning views and huge garden.

  • The Barn - Space for up to 180 guests.

  • The Bar - All the staff and glassware needed for great service plus local brews and maybe cocktails!

  • Bar Service - Bring your own, Wine List available and two bars to keep you all watered!

  • The Shippen - Chill out with some soft seating or display space (use as you see fit).

The perfect venue!

We could not have chosen a more perfect location to have our wedding! Sharon and Hogg were the most amazing hosts for us and made sure the barn was all set. They were there all day and ensured everything ran smoothly. Barn in the Fells is just stunning, we fell in love with the rustic vibe and knew it would suit us perfectly. We loved how Crow How was included with the package so our bridal party could stay for the full weekend and it made the dressing of the venue such an enjoyable and stress free experience! We want to do the day all over again! The grounds were just beautiful, from the farm fields with sheep to the stunning gardens and views of the hills, everything was just so special. We cannot thank you enough and would highly recommend to anyone!

Absolutely perfect

We got married at Barn in the Fells in July and it was the most perfect day. We booked the barn 2 years ago when the cows had only just been moved to their new home but we saw Sharons vision and my goodness has she outdone herself. The barn is absolutely beautiful and full of character but also a total blank canvas for couples to decorate however they wish to and make their wedding dream come true.
Sharon and her team were the most perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Hogg even let our flower girls feed their newborn lamb!
Having Weddings By Annabel as part of the package was a huge bonus as Annabel’s knowledge and experience really helped us during the planning process and then having Lindsey with us co-ordinating on the day making sure everything ran smoothly on the day and kept it totally stress free for us and our bridal party.
We cant thank the BITF team enough for making our dream come true and cannot recommend this venue enough to everyone.

Spectacular venue but felt right at home

Barn in the Fells was the perfect setting for our fairytale day. Annabel, the coordinator who works with the venue, was a total dream and made everything simple from our first call through to the day itself. No task too big or small! Sharon & Hogg, the owners, were also so friendly and kind and very understanding when we were a bit frazzled and setting up last thing at night on the Friday!
The use of Crow How is such a bonus, not only because of its gorgeous gardens and views to Loughrigg, but the drawing room was where the bridal party got ready and it was such a special space with the lighting. It was also wonderful to be able to put up our nearest and dearest on site!
The barn itself was beautiful for our ceremony, dinner, and evening entertainment. It's such a versatile space and it looks fantastic in all our photos.
We would do it all again in a heartbeat if we could!

The Best Wedding!

Sharon and Annabel helped us organise the best wedding anyone could ask for. Annabel was always on hand and happy to offer advise and guidance throughout the whole process. We absolutely loved our day and the stay At Crow How was amazing. We highly recommend anyone wanting a barn wedding to use Barn in the Fells. Lots of love Sam and Charlotte.

Perfect from start to finish!

Me and my husband got married at Barn In The Fells in August 2024. The whole process from start to finish was so easy, organised and stress free. Sharon and Hogg, the owners of the venue, give it that family feel as it is nestled on their family farm. With the experience and professionalism from Annabel, the day was everything we could have ever dreamt of and more. Nothing was too much. Annabel made suggestions and gave advice and the day wouldn’t have been the same without her. Thank you for everything x

Perfect, professional & personal

Thank you to Annabel, Sharon, Hogg and the rest of the team! We had the most special day made so easy and effortless by the work of them all. We loved the DIY wedding approach to be able to make it our own but needed some support which Annabel gave throughout our preparations and planning. She helped to guide us through ensuring that we focused on the things that mattered and would enhance our day! On the day, it went so smoothly down to the team and we were just able to enjoy every moment!
It is a wonderful idyllic venue deep in the heart of the lakes surrounded by stunning scenery. The rustic and natural feel of the barn was perfect and wowed all our guests!
We wish we could do it all again!!! Thank you!!!!

They did exactly what they said they’d do!

Sharon and Hogg are incredible hosts of this venue. Nothing is too much trouble. Sharon has made her vision for the barn come alive. Constantly looking to enhance the experience, Sharon has made more and more improvements to the barn in keeping with the rustic and country feel. On the day of the wedding, Sharon and Hogg along with their team behind the bar made our day incredibly special. We can’t thank them enough.

Dream day at Barn in the fells

Stunning venue in a fabulous Lake District location. Collaborative and flexible team who were open to our ideas and helped our day feel truly personal to us. The DIY set up suited us perfectly as we could choose our suppliers. Really convenient accommodation included with Crow How B&B. Couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough!

Stunning Location, with options for rain or shine!

We always knew we wanted a barn, or somewhere similarly rustic for our wedding and Barn in the Fell ticked all the boxes.
It's just outside Ambleside which meant all our guests had no problems finding accommodation as well as being a stunning location. The Barn itself is a great size, and the ceremony room downstairs is spacious, and has plenty of options on how you want to dress the room.
Sharon and Hogg who own the property were brilliant, they have adapted the barn, building everything you could need in a wedding location and are also open and flexible to ideas on how you might want the place to look for your day. They work with a variety of suppliers and have been incredibly helpful throughout - from letting us sneak in for another look when we visited the location for a second time to helping with suggestions on what other weddings have done and thoroughly taking care of us on the day.
We would 100% recommend - this is a beautiful and relaxed place to get married and we loved every minute.
