On the 9th December 2024, we had our elopement style wedding at The Blackton Grange Estate. The venue is absolutely stunning, nestled in the most gorgeous countryside surroundings and it absolutely ticked all of our requirements for our big day. The venue is a "dry hire", self-catering, dog friendly venue, which was absolutely perfect for us! We had been looking for a wedding venue for quite some time, as we had a few requirements that we wouldn't compromise on. Our dog was the ring bearer, so it had to be a dog friendly venue (tick!). One of our party members required a downstairs disabled friendly bedroom (tick!), and we wanted a private and intimate location, set in the countryside (tick, tick and tick!). The property is vast and fully catered for all of our needs. There were 14 of us staying at the property for 2 x nights and we didn't feel like we were in each others way at all, there were plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for us to choose from. We made full use of the games room and cinema room and our guests felt really cosy once we had lit the log burner in the living room. Jodi & Stella had decorated the living area with a Christmas tree & decorations. They also set out the furniture for our ceremony the following day, moving all of the sofas to the sides of the room and providing wooden chairs for our guests to sit on. Our ceremony was absolutely amazing on the day, Jodi & Stella arrived to meet with the registrars and to ensure we had everything we needed. Following the ceremony they put the living room back together, whilst we were having our family photos taken outside, so it was an absolutely seamless change over for us. They could not have done enough for us, making sure everything had gone to plan. Communication in the lead up to our wedding was fantastic, Jodi and Stella were very accommodating of our requests, so easy to talk to, we felt like we had known them for years! We used Coghlans catering, who are based locally (and recommended by the venue), to provide us with our meals for the 2 days. This included a meal on the Sunday when we arrived, and everything for the full wedding day. We brought our own drinks and snacks (but there is always an option to get Tesco delivery service delivered to the Estate for your stay). We would highly recommend this venue for a wedding, the house and grounds are absolutely amazing, sadly the weather wasn't the best on our arrival and it had just rained for 48 hours solid beforehand, but on the actual day the sun shined brightly and the photos are amazing. There is a converted barn for bigger wedding parties which we obviously didn't require for our small elopement, but Stella & Jodi very kindly showed us around it and it looks absolutely stunning!! The venue is an absolute credit to the hard work that these two ladies have put into it, long may it continue to be a wedding venue and thank you for letting us be the first couple to tie the knot at Blackton Grange. This venue is so unique and stunning. The ceremony area, has an amazing staircase to walk down to create a beautiful entrance to the ceremony. There are so many cool rooms, with unique styling to pick from for the guests to stay in. Some have hot tubs too! The wedding breakfast room is light and airy and looks over a lovely garden with huge seating area for guests. The food was amazing and the staff were super helpful. I cannot fault the place.

Where do I begin? What a bunch of absolute legends. Katherine and I got married in December of last year. After only getting engaged in August, we knew the next few months were going to be pretty intense. So we needed all the help we could get. Enter, The Willows at the Woodmans. After viewing the venue for probably less than an hour, we knew this was the one. Yes, the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, rustic and intimate - the trio we were looking for from the outset. But what really sold it was the fantastic Ruth - our wonderful wedding planner. She was outstanding, welcoming and accommodating from the moment we walked through those doors. Ruth actually encouraged us to look at other venues to compare and was extremely kind. We politely told her no, this is absolutely the one. Over the next few months, Ruth was there to answer every question, as in-depth as possible and to relieve any excess stress from us. Her partner in crime, Fiona - the Batman to her Robin (or the other way round), was also there to help when Ruth wasn't around and was just as brilliant. We had a bit of a nightmare with COVID related drop outs the week of, but Ruth and The Willows were unbelievably supportive through all of it and made the lead up to the day as easy as it could be, given the circumstances. On the day, they were just as excellent. Of course, everything ran smoothly, looked stunning and the venue showed the highest standards of professionalism EVER. But what really stood out on the day is the way Ruth and the team really, truly cared for me, Katherine and our guests. Okay, the venue is a stunning running rustic gem. Yes, the food and drink is amazing. The views from the venue are incredible. However, the real standouts are Ruth, Fiona and the team at The Willows. They just have that something else. If you're looking for a nice wedding venue with good food and nice interiors - go anywhere. But if you're looking for all of that, genuineness, excellence and that something more - you'll struggle to find many like The Willows. PS: If you're disabled. Book The Willows. I have Spina Bifida and I don't use a wheelchair but my legs, back and the rest of my frame can get weary after a while. I also self-catheterise. Ruth made sure I was looked after and that my catheters were stored away safe, secure and accessible. My nephew is also autistic and has sensory needs when it comes to food. She liaised with the kitchen to make sure his needs were met and was so so flexible. Aside from The Willows being genuinely people focused and therefore, disabled-people focused, they have: - A large disabled toilet (which is right near both the ceremony room and evening reception room), fitted with grab rails near the toilet and sink. - level access to all areas of the venue. - ramp access into the venue via the main entrance (into their Aviary Lounge) and leve access into the venue via the side door into the main reception room (2 disability friendly entrances - YES!) - they allow guide / service dogs and are used to dealing with furry assistants! - they're looking at getting specific disabled parking but they WILL reserve parking next to the venue for those that need it. Anything else re. accessibility, whether it's needing chairs for those that can't stand long periods (sometimes me) or needing a quiet space for those with sensory issues - talk to them. They're class. Also - Ruth and Fiona, you need to put your access info on your website / Facebook! Other disabled people need to know how brilliant you are. We love you guys! Drew and K. xxx

I initially came across Brinkburn online and almost immediately stopped my search as it was just what we were looking for. We wanted a beautiful venue with features, but that did not look dated with bold crested carpets! The fact that the Priory is onsite and can be used for the ceremony was just a dream. We made an appointment to visit Suzette and her team. Now my fear set in, you know when you get excited, but things are never that good in real life!! Well lucky for us Brinkburn was just as amazing if not more in real life, we loved it!! Our search was over, and this was the only one we had visited! Initially we thought we would not use the tipis as we only had a small guest list. However when you see them, and feel how special they are you have to incorporate them. We went ahead and booked. We then got allocated our wedding planner Jan!! Jan was amazing from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble. She was available for advice and support and even recommended some amazing supplier. Jan has a relaxed approach which makes you feel calm and at ease and I had 100 percent faith in her. And did she deliver....... Our wedding weekend was amazing, perfect, as one guest put it flawless, another guest said it was the wedding of millionaires!! Everybody loved every minute. The beauty of Brinkburn is you still have another day! The Sunday was spent with close family reflecting on the day, walking in the woods and river area and eating again! I can honestly say that our wedding was our most magical weekend!! We would not change anything about it.

We got married 4th June 2016. The day was perfect from start to finish, every guest commented on the amazing food and relaxed atmosphere of the place, all of them said it was the best wedding they had been to. Martin, Nigel and their team couldn't do enough for us on the day, I would recommend the parlour to anyone wanting to book a wedding ?

Doxford Barns have a strong family vibe and we felt very much a part of that by the end. We left Doxford Barns as husband and wife and never thought we would have made friends with the people at the venue. There seems to be a barrier when you go to other venues that everything is strictly professional, not at Doxford Barns. We struck up a friendship and because of that it made our day even more unforgettable and easier. Thank you to Doxford Barns, incredible venue, incredible people and you have left us and our guests with the most amazing memories!
