Covent Garden’s Best Kept Secret

Hidden away within Browns Covent Garden is Browns Court Rooms. This historic two floor event suite can be found on the first floor with grand sweeping staircases & stunning original features. Our building was once The Westminster’s County Courts, now elegantly converted into a bar and restaurant in 1996, we have a fantastic suite of rooms available for private & corporate hire. Within our largest room The Judges Court the original judge’s bench is still in place, and it was from here that convicted defendants were sent down to the detention cells that now serve as our wine cellars.

DO YOUR EVENT JUSTICE

This is The West End, this is theatre-land: 'The Place Where People Come To Dream…'

The Courtrooms are right in the heart of it all, on St. Martins Lane, close to Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square, we have four fantastic rooms available within our two floor event suite, which would be exclusively yours on your Big Day.

The Judge's Court

This magnificent room, steeped in history, was formerly the main courtroom of Westminster County Court where debtors and bankrupts were tried. The focal point of the room is the original judge’s bench and it was from here that convicted defendants were sent down to the detention cells that now serve as our wine cellars. The Judge’s Court holds a civil wedding licence and can be laid out for almost any occasion from a sit down wedding breakfast for up to 100 guests, in theatre style for up to 150, a canapé reception for 130 or for business meetings.

Barrister's Court

This stunning courtroom once dealt with births, deaths and marriages and it retains many original features including beautiful skylights, chandeliers and the original judge’s bench. It is the second largest of the four rooms at Browns Courtrooms and can seat up to 48 diners or 70 people for drinks and canapés.

Judge's Chamber

The Judge’s Chamber offers a more informal style than the main Courtrooms. The Judge’s Chamber can be hired individually or joined up with the adjoining Study. It can be arranged to suit almost any occasion from a dinner for 40 guests or canapé reception for up to 70 to a business meeting for 20 or a theatre-style presentation for 50 people.

The Study

The smallest of our private rooms, The Study is an ideal venue for a small dinner party or private meeting. It can be hired on its own or combined with the adjoining Judge’s Chambers.

April Wedding at Brown's

When my husband and I decided at Christmas that we wanted to get married in Spring 2015, a lot of people told us that we were a bit mad. I have to say though, thanks to the service we received at Brown's it was no more stressful than planning a wedding in a sensible amount of time. Everything was simple, and they were incredibly accommodating of our time frame.

We really wanted a London wedding in an interesting building. We found that the heritage buildings we looked at, whilst amazing, we're either out of budget or had lots of restrictions. The hotel venues we looked at tended to look like conference venues. We decided that Brown's provided a space that required little embellishment but managed to be really convenient and incredibly good value. Plus, you can't get more Central than Covent Garden!

Food was great, tasted exactly the same on the day as it did on the tasting. Dietary requirements were all accommodated. It was really convenient having the ceremony and the reception a few feet from each other also. Everyone said it was the most chilled out wedding they'd ever been to.

Big thank you to Ben and Jason, who were absolutely lovely and so helpful. I'm really glad we chose Brown's as we managed to have a day that felt really special without blowing our budget.

Thank You!

Dear Ben,

I wanted to write to thank you for organizing the use of the Barristers Court on Saturday past. The party was a great success; the room had been set up really nicely and the space allowed us to be able to have a really special time with each other. All present really enjoyed themselves.

Your colleagues were all extremely helpful and Jason in particular was of great help. All helped the evening run really smoothly.

I had a very nice evening and I will pass on my recommendation to friends and family.

With Best Wishes,

Mary

Great service and value for a classy venue

We had both our service and reception at Browns in the fantastic location of St Martin's Lane (near Trafalgar Sq), and were incredibly impressed with their service and flexibility. They did not charge us room hire, they paid for most of the flowers (of our choice) and they were very open to ideas such as having jugs of tap water on tables rather than paying for mineral water. The staff there all seem to be quite artistic, and take a pride in helping you arrange things in a beautiful way. One thing I would say is that, although all our 95 guests did fit in, it was a slight squash at times. I would say that 70-80 would be a perfect number of guests for this venue.
