Our beautiful estate set in the rolling countryside on the Surrey Hampshire borders occupies an unrivalled and unspoilt position.
The estate was made up of nearly 500 acres, dates to the 1200’s and was a productive Hop Farm. The farming areas are now set to crops and Bury Court Barn is set in 25 acres of woodland, grazing for horses and of course the wedding venue. The centre piece of the estate is the stunning ‘Threshing Barn’ which for the last 20 years or so has been used for weddings, film shoots and corporate meetings
The estate boasts a Hop Kiln and Oast House with working wind vanes for drying hops as part of the brewing process now redesigned for the 21st century and the needs of our clients but it all adds to the fun and quirkiness of Bury Court.
Covid brought many challenges, but it also gave us the opportunity to build new rooms in the stabled courtyard and refurbish the bedrooms in the Oast House. Bury Court can now provide sleepovers for 30 guests (which trust us many will need) in 15 rooms including the Bridal Suite.
Oh, and we forgot to add we also increased our parking for up to 90 cars to stop our guests parking on our flower beds when spaces were a bit tight. Our ethos…
We believe a wedding is rather like a period drama (not just because families are involved) but because a detailed script is required to make your day unique to you and unbelievably special.
Quite simply put this is what we do! Our talented team of coordinators will simply do double somersaults to make your day very personal and special to you and your guests.
Whether you want a ‘traditional’ wedding or if you decide to go a little (or a lot)
off- piste our team will support you all the way.
Phew it’s tricky to pack the history, the quirkiness and the simple fun of Bury Court into a few lines.
Enough said and simply put we would like to just make sure you all have a magical day and that we listen to your hopes and dreams.
The Barn
Our majestic barn can comfortably host weddings from 50 to 150 guests, but we can with careful planning along with the hire of outside marquees increase the capacity to 180 to 200 guests which is within our licence, but we prefer to have guests seated rather than hanging from the rafters!
We have a variety of different spaces on the estate for indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies.
The Barn is just like a stage set in that there are numerous ways to set up and host your wedding. You may have very specific ideas, or you may need us to help so your thoughts and wishes are best shared with you during a private viewing.
However, the Barn is yours with unadulterated space to set the stage, but we also have the experience, expertise, and creativity to help you if you need us to design and dress the barn for your very special day.
What we do suggest is that you to host your evening entertainment in the area as you enter the barn door. Simply put your entertainer can set up with minimal disturbance whilst you consume a delicious wedding breakfast.
Oh, and whilst other venues may not share this exiting news with you, we do have a sound limiter set at 93 decibels located by the bar so the music is best cited furthest away from this little beast.
Some decorations are supplied by Bury Court but if you wanted more of the wow factor, we would recommend contacting Vintage Prop Hire and Jones Flowers who have the capability to seduce your guests with props and eye watering floral decorations.
Both have workshops in The Hopkiln at Bury Court but run as independent suppliers to us and other venues.
Lastly at the end of the barn The Good Life who again are independent of Bury Court run a cracking bar and host the most delicious wedding breakfasts with all sorts of menu options but they can also supply drinks and street food vans in the outdoor gardens.
