Nestled in the heart of England's Surrey Hills just south of Guildford, Surrey, Gate Street is a romantic venue for weddings and other milestone events. This family-run property is also a working farm home to English Longhorn cattle, Lleyn Sheep, and Mangalitsa Pigs. The barn and its surroundings have been home to countless celebrations for over 20 years.
Facilities and Capacity
Gate Street Barn is available to host weddings all year long, no matter the weather. You can start your day in the Tack Room and the Old Dairy, two getting-ready rooms where you'll be able to spend time with your party. Then, you may head to The Barn for the ceremony or follow the bluebell-lined paths through the woods for a fairytale-worthy blessing.
The Barn can seat up to 150 guests, while evening receptions or less formal occasions can host 200 attendees. Inside The Barn, you can enjoy the warm wood finishes and exposed beams wound with twinkling fairy lights. It's joined to both The Orangery and Pheasantry, allowing you to smoothly move between event spaces as the day unfolds. In the warmer months, you can also hold your reception in the beautiful landscape gardens. Wood-burning stoves add a touch of cosiness for weddings in autumn and winter.
Onsite Accommodation
Once the celebrations have drawn to a close, end the day on a high by booking the convenient onsite accommodations that can sleep up to 28 people. The Hayloft is a popular choice for the newlyweds with its abundance of rustic charm. The Farmhouse, beside The Barn, has seven double rooms and access to the tennis court and heated swimming pool in the summer. The Stable Flat, which can be connected to the Tack Room, is well-suited for friends and family of the couple. It has two double bedrooms and a private garden, ideal for turning the celebration into a countryside getaway. Those who want to treat themselves to a glamping experience will enjoy the convenience and charm of the Shepherd's Hut, with views of the Longhorn Cattle on the farm. The Stork Hut and The Pool House are also available for overnight stays.

Join us for a magical winter experience at Gate Street, a charming countryside Barn nestled in the heart of the Surrey Hills. Discover how our cosy, rustic atmosphere transforms into the perfect setting for your dream wedding!
We’ll be opening our venue this Winter, to give you and your guests the chance to tour our venue at your own pace, meet our recommended and trusted suppliers and get inspired for your very own wedding day décor. You’ll also be able to view our on-site luxury accommodation and the stunning grounds Gate Street has to offer.
This event is open to both our booked couples and couples who are currently searching for their dream wedding venue. It will be your opportunity to get a feel for our grounds and immerse yourself in our venue. You’ll also be able to take a break from the pressure of the wedding to do list and enjoy the event with loved ones.
Refreshments
Our venue bar will be open providing a selection of Hot & Soft drinks, juices, alcoholic beverages and fizz will be available to purchase.
By appointment only
We will be open to the public by appointment only for first time visits. Appointment slots will be operating every half hour starting at 6pm and finishing at 8pm. You will need to book in a 30-minute time slot, during which, you will be greeted by a venue representative who will provide you with an information pack and an orientation on what to expect throughout your visit.
Self-guided tour
If you have your event booked with us or have viewed before, you will be given a venue map, which can be used to help guide your group through the venue, navigate the grounds and the accommodation units. We would love you to explore the venue at your own pace so, you can chat through ideas, options and scenarios with friends and family.
First come, first served
As mentioned, this event will be open to the public but, by appointment only. Demand is always very high and we want to ensure that all booked and prospective couples secure a time slot!
Facilities
Parking is free and at the main entrance or for those wanting to park overnight, you can park in our overflow car park located opposite the venue main entrance.
Please bear in mind that due to our rural location, Uber and similar booking-apps do not work. Therefore please pre-book your taxis via one of our recommended companies: Waverley Cars, GM Cars or Five & Sixes.
There is a wheelchair lift that can be used to access toilets and to help navigate the areas inside with ease.
