Welcome to Hexham Abbey, an historic and beautiful venue located in the bustling market town of Hexham, Northumberland. With over 1300 years of history, the Abbey is a wonderful choice for couples looking for something extra special for their wedding day.

We welcome couples of all faiths and none, you don’t have to get married in the Abbey itself to host your reception with us. Our civil ceremony partner is the beautiful Hexham House which is within a bouquet’s throw across the gardens of the Abbey.

We offer a selection of stunning function rooms and give you full flexibility with your options, whether you want a small or large celebration, informal or formal. The team at Hexham Abbey are happy to accommodate any specific requests or requirements, meaning you are not restricted to a set package, nor minimum spends.

The venue also has some marvellous outdoor spaces, creating the perfect environment for your wedding photography.

The Great Hall is our main showcase setting, a former Georgian ballroom featuring an intricate ceiling design and five large west-facing windows overlooking the Abbey Grounds. It can comfortably seat up to 110 guests for the wedding breakfast and is turned around for the evening’s entertainment, with our outdoor spaces and other function rooms utilised as needed. All our functions rooms are linked, meaning larger celebrations can fill the entire venue with a capacity of up to 200 guests.
