A perfect venue for a perfect day!! From beginning to end, our experience with Monkton Barn was next to none. Communication, little touches, professionalism, understanding and flexibility and beautiful venue made our day just great! Not to mention the food! We have had nothing but compliments about every asp of our day! Thanks for making it one to remember for all the right reasons ❤️

It really is a shame to not be able to write an amazing review for what is a beautiful venue (specifically home meadow) but everything comes down to the actual day of the event and unfortunately there were a lot of things that didn't go right, were not organised or delivered which caused stress and upset on an event that cost us such a lot of money and we had been planning for months and months.
After feeding back to the owner after the event we received the below response:
"Thank you for taking the time to compose and send your feedback. I’m afraid it did not come as a complete surprise, as, hands-up, we did encounter certain issues in the set-up for your event and your coordinator will have witnessed behind the scenes aspects that when reported to you would have caused you anxiety"

Certain items were being hired from the venue such as signs and lighting and they were not installed for the event even though it was all documented.

The venue had assured us they would organise generators for the £3k's worth of inflatables we had hired however, this was not organised hence a very stressful few hours before getting this sorted. The owners response to this complaint was unprofessional in my opinion:
"At this point I admit that I let some stress show in being gruff with him and your coordinator, but I’m certain they are both made of rugged stuff and are probably not quite as sensitive as your commentary suggested. For my part, I fully own up to being gruff and I own it as my rite at the age of 69, to express myself in slightly pompous and old-fashioned terms from time to time and to a certain entitlement to take my leisure on a Saturday, or any other day I choose, particularly having cancelled our precious holiday to be on hand if needed"
They had promised they could supply the power considerably cheaper than the inflatable company however then tried to charge us a lot more than we were originally quoted!

We hired an independent events co ordinator a week before to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day and we honestly believe had it not been for her the event would have been a shambles.

I would suggest for anyone wanting to hold their wedding/event here be very clear at all times with your vision, who is responsible for what and hire a co-ordinator from the beginning to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Hopefully Monkton can work on the issues that they confirm arised and ensure no one else feels let down on their big day.

Thank you so much for hosting the best day of our lives (so far!). All of our guests have already said how much they enjoyed every minute – the sun was shining (a miracle!), and we even got to play our beloved cricket on the meadow.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding here on the 30th November and it was just perfect from start to finish. The team are so helpful with brilliant communication throughout. The food was fantastic with many guests commenting it was the best food they had had at a wedding! Thanks guys again for making our special day so amazing. Highly recommend! x

Monkton Barn is a wonderful venue it’s so versatile and you can really make it your own from a woodland setting to an open field to a barn feel. A very friendly team who is willing to support you every step of the way.

We got married here on 2nd August 2024. The venue is incredible, you have so much flexibility to make your day tailored to you. The team are so kind and supportive, the venue is stunning and the food was incredible. We highly recommend this venue, we had the most amazing wedding day and can't put into words how special this venue is!

We were blown away by Monkton barn and Peter on our first viewing! It was such an incredible space that enabled us to really make our day our own. In the run up to the day itself, Peter was available for planning "parties" which were a true highlight of our wedding preparation and always sparked such brilliant ideas. He was incredible in helping to navigate the torrential rain the week of our wedding and created lots of plan Bs should we need them. This was hugely appreciated and felt like a true partnership.

We split our day between the meadow for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast and then hosted the evening inside the barn. This meant we could create a real difference between night and day and no need to worry about change over times etc. The meadow has stunning views and is an incredible space to really let your hair down and celebrate with everyone. The courtyard and barn were perfect for the evening, plenty of room for the band, drinks, dancing and best of all a fire for drunken marshmallows.

Monkton barn really was the perfect space for our wedding day and a place that will always hold very fond memories.

We recently got married at Monkton Barn and it was the perfect venue for us. We had no idea how to organise a wedding and having Peter involved from the start was a blessing. He really helped keep us relaxed and not sweat the small stuff. We had a lovely, relaxed wedding day and our guests had a fantastic time. We truly couldn't have wished for more.

My daughter held her wedding reception here on June 17th 2017. What a perfect location. The views are spectacular from the meadow. We had the run of both meadows (plenty of space for bouncy castle, cricket match, welly wanging and much more). We were able to decorate the marquee and grounds as we wanted and staff were on hand to help. Caterers fab. Peter was most accommodating and wants his guests to have a great time. Thoroughly recommend this wonderful venue.

From our first visit we were convinced this was the place for us and looked nowhere else
We loved our planning parties with Peter and found the whole experience perfect.
We got to incorporate loads of our own ideas and make lots of decorations, making the venue truly personal!
We cannot fault Monkton Barn and truly recommend it!
Our guests all loved the venue and location! A massive thank you to all who made our ‘vision’ come to life!

Thank you so much to Peter and all the other companies involved, who he personally recommended, for helping us pull it all together. The Barn was full to the brim with our friends and family for our ceremony and beautiful views made the slightly rainy day on the meadow picture perfect (thanks to Wendy!). We arranged our wedding at Monkton Barn for April 2014 and truly could not fault one thing from start to finish at this venue. From the very first visit meeting the host of Monkton Barn we found him extremely helpful and welcoming he helped us to tailor make our Wedding Day advising us on all the Trades people that had been used before at the venue with a very detailed folder of phone numbers etc always listening to our requirements and helping us to make decisions for our Big Day.

Our wedding pictures captured the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings and we were very sad when our day came to an end we would love to do it all over again at Monkton Barn.

We had our Wedding at Monkton Barn on Saturday 23rd May 2015 and we cannot recommend Peter and the venue highly enough. We had our ceremony in the beautiful meadow and had our reception in the barn along with a lovely capri marquee we hired from one of Peter's suppliers.

All of the suppliers recommended to us by Peter we brilliant. All very helpful and very reasonably priced. Our marquee, chairs, tables etc were hired from GEMS and were great. Our celebrant was Elspeth Thomson (who we loved and who everyone said was so lovely, well spoken and professional) Our hog roast, all day drinks, all evening food and the bar in the evening were supplied by Peter himself and Mel at Youbar. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was (especially the hog roast, late night pizzas and cheese tower buffet), how efficient the bar was and how varied and reasonably priced the drinks were.

Peter himself is a delight. He is kind, genial and nothing is too much trouble. Peter put our minds at ease throughout the whole process and the planning parties are such fun! He himself made sure that our big day ran smoothly and it was a pleasure to have him there. He was very flexible about where we could use and if we could move stuff around. He also was a great help the day before and after when it came to setting up and clearing up.

The venue itself is beyond stunning - it really was picturesque and perfect for our vintage spring wedding!

We honestly can’t thank Peter enough for helping to make our Wedding Day so so special – it really was the best day of our lives. So thank you again a million times.
