Quite simply the only venue you should consider!

Unlike other venues where you ultimately end up having the same cookie-cutter wedding as every other couple getting married there, Murthly Estate offers a truly unique experience. This distinction is not only due to the limited number of weddings held there each year and the personal service you receive from the owner, Thomas, but also because of the myriad of options available for your ceremony and reception. From grand celebrations to intimate elopements, there is absolutely no way to have a mediocre wedding at Murthly.

Murthly Estate was especially perfect for our wedding as I had always envisaged a church wedding (mainly due to the architecture and tradition), but going down the religious route just wouldn't have been authentic to us. Murthly Chapel overdelivered on his wishes—it really needs to be seen to be believed, but it is stunning inside and out—while allowing us to have a humanist ceremony. From there, we had photos in front of the castle and a reception in the very beautiful walled garden.

Nothing seemed too much for Thomas, both prior to booking and in the run-up to our big day, always hitting the balance just right of being involved when necessary while not enforcing his view on how a wedding at Murthly should be. For instance, even though we weren't using the castle for our ceremony, Thomas allowed us to hold a small drinks reception in the castle the night before for everyone who helped us set up. He then opened the grand room very early in the morning to allow the bridal party to get ready.

This all said, for balance, I feel I should also mention the negatives. Firstly, you will spend most of the day talking about how amazing the venue is with all your guests. It then gets especially awkward when so many of your friends and family come up to you at the end and say they enjoyed your wedding more than their own! Followed by the fact that you eventually realise your four days at Murthly Castle are nearly up, and you don't get to move in with Thomas and his family.

We left here on an absolute high, feeling like we had made a new friend in Thomas and become part of an exclusive club of newlyweds who have a special connection to an incredible location.

A hidden gem in Perth

We had our outdoor ceremony and marquee wedding in June 2022 at Murthly Castle for 95 guests. It was everything that we could have imagined and more. The historic venue itself is truly stunning and unique, it tied in perfectly with our vision of having an outdoor garden party wedding but had the opportunity to use the stunning chapel and indoor halls if Scotland decided to be Scotland and rain in June…. It didn’t!
It was such a pleasure having Thomas the owners support before the day, helping to coordinate suppliers the week of the wedding, which was extremely helpful for a stressed bride and on the day was on hand to ensure the day ran smoothly from a distance. Initially, our wedding had some early set-backs and a change of date happened due to the pandemic, but Thomas was very understanding and accommodating and supported us fully in our endeavours to get things back-on-track despite a postponement and lots of moving parts in suppliers. The day itself went seamlessly and was relaxed. Thomas was on hand to deal with any issues and truly was a great support to all. Our guests commented on what a beautiful venue and a hidden gem Murthly was. The gardens especially gave us room to utilise lots of different areas and everyone had a fantastic time. Thanks again to Thomas.

Murthly Castle; absolutely perfect venue!

As soon as we viewed Murthly Castle we fell in love! It had everything and more that we were looking for; set in stunning grounds with its very own unique Chapel (has to be seen be believed!), walled garden, lochan, and ancient woodland.
We had 60 guests and could therefor use the inside of the castle itself for the wedding (though there is plenty of room just outside the Castle or in the walled garden for a marquee). Having our wedding breakfast in the vaulted dining room was so special. Everybody commented on how stunning the whole place was. It made for the most perfect day in every single way.
Thomas (who owns the Castle) was lovely, so easy to work with and also on hand during the day to answer all the guests questions about the history of the place etc. We had to move our original date due to Covid which was no problem for him whatsoever.
I could not recommend Murthly Castle enough. A stunning venue in every way!

Oh and very dog friendly too (we had our French Bulldog as our ring bearer!)

Fantastic experience getting married at Murthly

We celebrated our wedding at Murthly Estate on 18/7/24 and had the most fantastic day. Everything was perfect from start to finish and the grounds and gardens all looked beautiful.

The chapel is truly stunning and there are some fantastic locations around the estate for wedding photos.

Thomas could not have been more accommodating and helpful, and really made the experience a breeze.

We would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to celebrate their wedding somewhere really special.

Wonderful!

We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of wedding venue! We wanted a beautiful, atmospheric, flexible place to hold our small(ish) wedding and Murthly ticked every box. The chapel is absolutely stunning (our guests are still talking about it) and the walled garden is the perfect place for a marquee- with a beautifully kept lawn and gorgeous flower beds. Just having a short (and very beautiful) walk between the chapel and reception also meant there is no stress or logistical admin to do on the day- we just felt so relaxed and happy. Thomas was excellent from the beginning- so accommodating and responsive. He also gave us amazing recommendations for our suppliers, whilst still allowing us full flexibility to design the wedding we wanted with the suppliers we wanted. Everything from start to finish was just perfect and ran so smoothly. I have had so many guests saying that the location of our wedding has made it really stand out for them. The proximity to Dunkeld is also a huge selling point - we had lots of guests coming from London and they loved staying in such a beautiful town. All in all, just a stunning location, amazing host (Thomas) and hugely loved by us and all our guests! We will forever have very fond memories of Murthly. Thank you!

A dream wedding venue

Murthly Castle is an incredible place to host a wedding. We had a dream of a day and would highly recommend it! Murthly was the only wedding venue we looked round (on a drizzly, misty October day) but we immediately knew we didn't need to look any further! Even in the drizzle it was a beautiful place and we knew it would be perfect whatever the weather on our wedding day (glorious sunshine, as it happens!). In addition, we were allowed to bring our small, well-behaved dog along for her important ring-bearer duties. The owner, Thomas, was super friendly and accommodating and very easy to work with. He was so helpful in ensuring that we had all we needed, coordinating suppliers as they arrived on site, assisting in some of the ceremony and his calm presence was very helpful for pre-wedding nerves the day before!
The chapel at Murthly is absolutely stunning and needs to be seen to appreciate its beauty and presence. Our guests had never seen anything like it and were blown away. It really is one of Scotland's best kept secrets! We had our reception in the Walled Garden, which was perfect for entertaining guests outside in the grounds and also inside a marquee which we hired separately.
We cannot recommend Murthly Castle and Thomas highly enough. Many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to and we are sure that Murthly itself played a key role in that. We feel so lucky that we had our wedding there and Murthly will forever be special to us!

The most beautiful chapel I've EVER seen.

I can't recommend Murthly Estate enough as a wedding venue.

From the very first time I was in contact with Thomas back in January 2020, we felt in safe hands. Throughout the chaos (and many new dates!) of the pandemic he was extraordinarily responsive, flexible and supportive, and Murthly is the most beautiful location for a wedding. Thomas gave lots of ideas and advice and you always felt he was on hand if you needed him, but he was also extremely relaxed and welcoming - at no point did we feel like we were just another wedding at the venue.

We held the reception back at my husband's family home, so just used the chapel for our wedding ceremony but would happily have held the entire day there - the gardens are stunning and the castle interiors are amazing as well. We comfortably fitted 110 guests into the main body of the chapel. (Truly, the photos of the chapel don't do it justice - it is absolutely breathtaking). Everyone who came has commented on just what an incredible, special place it is and we feel very lucky to have got married there.

If you're looking for a wedding venue in Perthshire, look no further than Murthly Estate - Thomas made the planning process so un-stressful, and it really is the most special, beautiful place to get married.

The most magical celebration!

We absolutely loved having our celebration at Murthly Castle! Working with Thomas throughout the entire process (spanning 2 years!) was a pleasure. He was great with all forms of communication and offered advice on local vendors and suppliers. He is considerate, kind, and an all-around easy-going guy. Truly a real help, especially on the day of the celebration; he helped to make sure everything went to plan! Murthly Estate is a dream! We had our ceremony in the Douglas fir grove, which is breathtakingly beautiful (and why we chose Murthly Castle as our venue), and our celebration in the walled garden - which was also lovely and the perfect fit for our informal and relaxed party. We could not have asked for a more perfect location or host and we are so thankful to have had the most magical celebration at Murthly Castle & Estate.
