A special place

My Fiancee and I got engaged on the Great Orme during a romantic get away and we wanted to return to the area to wed a few years later.
We contacted Plas Mawr who opened up especially, out of season, to let us view the building before we booked.
Arranging the wedding here was so easy. The staff were extremely helpful and caring and really responsive to how we wanted our big day.
I really can't praise the staff highly enough and the venue was truly magical on the day. It was a wedding with a real difference made very special by the surroundings and the flexibility to have the wedding we wanted.

Perfect setting

Our wedding journey at Plas Mawr began before the actual proposal, when Matt contacted the venue to book the wedding before actually proposing! It was a bold move, but Sheena and the staff were so helpful and got everything sorted without me even knowing. Matt then proposed to me at the venue on a day out and Sheena took some lovely photos of the moment for us to cherish. Planning the ceremony itself was so easy with the help of the staff and they were always available for any questions we had. The day before the wedding we were able to drop off decorations and orders of service that were then put out by the staff ahead of the ceremony so we didn't need to worry about anything. When the big day came, it was unfortunately pouring rain which was a shame but all guests were taken care of so no one got wet. The ceremony itself in the Great Chamber was beautiful and as there is limited capacity (room for 40 guests) it was perfect for what we wanted and a very intimate setting. My favourite photos are of us signing the register in the Great Chamber; the surroundings are so picturesque. Due to the rain we were unable to make use of the gardens for Plas Mawr's outdoor champagne reception but the staff had already planned for this and we were all taken to a private room for drinks. Thankfully the rain stopped after our drinks reception and our photographer was able to get some stunning shots of us and our guests in the ground. Overall we would 100% recommend Plas Mawr as a perfect wedding venue.

Our Wedding

We chose Plas Mawr as our wedding venue as we really wanted to be married within the town walls of Conwy, yet we felt we didn't really want a church wedding, so Plas Mawr just felt like the perfect location. From the moment we booked, the staff at Plas Mawr were wonderful, we discussed decorations and flowers for our day, which the staff wonderfully placed for us on the day. After the ceremony, we had a small champagne reception in the walled garden, which was lovely and gave us a fantastic opportunity for photographs. The day before the wedding, I dropped off all our decorations, flowers and champagne and left it in the hands of the wonderful custodians at Plas Mawr, they organised everything for us on the day, and really couldn't do enough for us. Plas Mawr really is a beautiful house, although the house can only accommodate a small number of guests, this worked for us as we decided to only have close family and friends present at the ceremony and then we would go straight into a reception with our other guests at another venue. If your looking for something a little quirky, intimate and different, do consider Plas Mawr. The house really does have a sense of grandeur for a relatively small venue, there are also some fantastic spots for some beautiful photographs. Overall, we had the most amazing day and really couldn't have asked for anything more, Plas Mawr and the staff were wonderful and we feel very lucky to have been married in this wonderful place hidden within the town walls of Conwy.
