About

Pythouse Kitchen Garden is an 18th Century walled garden, offering a private party paradise for a unique and colourful wedding.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect venue for a relaxed outdoor wedding or a refined sit-down dinner, this is a truly special setting.

Within the walled garden, abundant flowers, beautiful plants, specimen trees and 18th Century architecture create a picturesque backdrop for your celebration.

You can enjoy an small intimate reception in the conservatory or go all out and have our beautiful traditional marquee on the terrace which can seat up to 150 people.

PKG specialises in delicious seasonal cooking, prepared using fresh produce grown on site by our head gardener, Heather. You could opt for a relaxed BBQ cooked on the vintage tractor grill or for a more formal occasion, a sit-down dinner served on white linen. It is really important that we deliver your vision so every menu is tailored specifically to you.

In the evening, the party will continue within the potting shed or under the stars and the team can help source a DJ or band to ensure a busy dance floor. The garden is dotted with twinkly lights and lanterns and fire braziers can be lit for your guests to enjoy.

After the party you can head to the amazing glamping village, where there is space for 24 guests to sleep within the orchard.

PKG is not just a venue. We can also take care of the other details such as flowers (both for the venue and the bridal party), your wedding cake, venue styling, food, drinks from our indoor or outdoor bar (corkage available) and entertainment. You can also have a blessing in the walled garden with your family and friends surrounded by nature.

The most important thing for us is that we create a completely unique and bespoke wedding day for every couple. We hold a select number of weddings here each year to ensure it remains truly special.

Simply Stunning Wedding Venue

My wife and I were lucky enough to hold our wedding at PKG after having stumbled upon and instantly fallen in love with it the previous year. We were even luckier to have one of the sunniest summer days to really bring out the very best of this stunning location. The look and feel of the place were exactly what we were looking for. It’s a beautiful location, a great restaurant set in a working 18th century walled garden, and far from a typical wedding venue. The fact that as much of the produce as possible is grown on-site was also a huge bonus.

We chose Garden Boards for our starter, and Pytfire banquet for main. This included whole sides of salmon, roasted rib of beef, pork and a delicious selection of roasted vegetables, all of this cooked outside, in front of the guests, followed by Eton Mess for dessert. The food was superb and worked very well for close to 150 guests. You can try the Pytfire at the venue on the first Saturday of every month, I think, which we did before our event - delicious.

Piers, the owner, was in charge of the Pytfire roasting. He and the rest of the kitchen, waiting and bar staff were top notch. We have had numerous compliments on food, service and the whole day. Piers and Sophie, who runs the wedding-day planning, were both absolutely excellent throughout the whole process. The multi-talented Sophie made two fantastic bouquets for the mothers of the bride and groom, 10 button holes and bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids. These were spectacular, and made entirely from Pythouse seasonal flowers.

I don’t think we could recommend this venue highly enough. A huge thank you to Piers and his very talented team, you should be very proud!

Dear Sophie

Sophie, you are wonderful!

The day was brilliant and Pythouse lived up to our expectations - the serving of the yummy canapés and wine on the lawn amid the lovely greenery and flowers. Prettily dressed table setting and beautifully orchestrated service from your able, polite and charming staff. The food was delicious and plenty on offer. The cake and centrepiece looked so pretty and just what we had in mind.

Amid twinkling lights and glowing lanterns we danced the night away and the glampers happily glamped, nourished with the midnight snack and pitfire to keep them warm.

Our friends thought that it was a most amazing and delightful setting and we appreciate yours and Piers’ efforts to make us feel welcome.

With very many thanks to you all,

David and Susie, Rachel and Leo

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work, both in the run-up to our wedding and on the day itself. We are really grateful for your help bringing all our plans together to make it such a perfect day - it was everything we'd hoped for and more. Thank you for working so closely with Melanie - as we'd hoped, we had a truly relaxing day, safe in the knowledge that everything was under control at all times.
