Money takers who have no empathy

So originally myself and my partner had the venue booked for March 2025, unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel, I received an email from the manager Karen Gilston Saying that if they managed to resell the date, they would refund us minus administrative fees .
I then run up checking if the date had been sold only to Then email Karen regarding the date being sold which she said it hadn’t been sold until I highlighted that I had already rang in and found out the date had been sold.
Or then highlighted what she had told me in the email about refunding our money, To which only a few days later I received the reply...

Or then highlighted what she had told me in the email about refunding our money, To which only a few days later I received the reply telling me I would be pleased to know that they have re-sold the date only then to tell me I would not be getting a refund of any kind because of the hits on their bar sales which is totally irrelevant to the deposit which was £2000 which we had paid down

As beautiful as this places they are only out for the money however they come across When you first go there

I would never use this place again, and I would not recommend it to anybody in future

They have shown no empathy or sympathy of any kind, even though we had suffered a bereavement and some of life unexpected terms for which we had to cancel

This place is only out for your money, however pretty the place may look

Thank you for taking the time to write a review as we always welcome feedback.
You originally booked your wedding for May 2025, and then following your request to postpone your date, we transferred this to May 2026 and charged you a £50 admin fee. When you booked, the deposit fee is shown as non-refundable, but if a couple need to cancel their wedding, we make every effort to try and resell dates. In your situation, we have resold the date in May 2026, but the overall value of the wedding was considerably less than your contractual booking value, hence we need to retain the deposit.
We fully appreciate this is not the outcome...

Perfect Wedding Venue in the Countryside

We couldn't have been happier to have tied the knot at Ashton Lodge and our wedding day was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Our guests all remarked on how beautiful the venue is and how good the food is (especially the evening pizzas!). Thank you particularly to Mia who helped us with all our planning and Emma who was the perfect wedding coordinator on the day. Her attention to detail was unmatched and we didn't want for anything on the day; it was all so seamless. Thank you so much to everyone for everything!

Great day but watch out

We had the best day at Ashton Lodge. The staff on the ground work tirelessly to ensure that everything runs perfectly (special shout-out to Emma here). The food was good, prices are reasonable - as far as weddings go - & there are certain little touches that really make your day. Thank you all those staff - you know who you are!

The only reason this review isn't 5 star is due to the way you're treated after the wedding. We've waited almost 6 weeks for our security deposit to be refunded but due to some damage to a radiator, this has yet to be returned and my e-mails are now being ignored. I have no issues paying...

The only reason this review isn't 5 star is due to the way you're treated after the wedding. Instead, I got a hypothetical quote from a manager based on a previous repair which, ironically, was the exact same amount as our security deposit...

Given the circumstances and what has happened, I thought Ashton Lodge may have had the decency to pay back our security deposit as a gesture of good will considering we spent £10k+ at their venue; clearly not!

I'm sure the venue will respond to this review with a wonderfully crafted response; outlining how I'm absolutely in the wrong so I look forward to that but I needed to include this information as a word of warning to those looking to get married at Ashton Lodge. Once you've spent your money, you're made to feel like just another customer unfortunately - A bitter end to a really special day.

Absolutely perfect!

We got married at Ashton Lodge yesterday, and we can genuinely say that it was everything we’d have hoped for and more. Rebecca was incredible and made us feel like VIPs - everything was at our own pace, and she was always on hand to make sure everything was going smoothly. Little things that we were concerned about on the morning were put to bed immediately as Rebecca had already thought about it and had a plan. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and quick and the whole day was perfect.

We dealt with Mia from the point of booking up to a couple of weeks before the wedding when Rebecca took over as she was going to be there on the day. Mia was great throughout the planning process, and there was obviously a really smooth handover as it seemed like Rebecca had been with us from the start.
Would 100% recommend this venue for anyone!!

Wonderful venue with exceptional staff

Ashton Lodge was the perfect venue for our wedding this summer. A beautiful building in stunning surroundings, with an absolutely incredible team behind it. The whole process from viewing, booking and planning, right up to the day itself and afterwards, was smooth and easy with clear communication throughout. They were flexible around special requests and nothing was too much trouble. Every member of staff we dealt with was so friendly and helpful, and they genuinely care so much about helping you have the best day of your lives. We had the most amazing day and memories that we will cherish forever. Ashton Lodge Country House is a beautiful venue the scenery is beautiful. The staff here are so welcoming and accommodating. Rebecca who we met when we first looked around last year is the most genuine person we have ever met so down to earth we had mia in our wedding meetings she is so lovely. We had the most amazing day and memories that we will cherish forever. Ashton Lodge Country House is a beautiful venue the scenery is beautiful. The staff here are so welcoming and accommodating. Rebecca who we met when we first looked around last year is the most genuine person we have ever met so down to earth we had mia in our wedding meetings she is so lovely. We had Rebecca on our wedding day and she was amazing nothing we ever asked was too much trouble for her. She was there right from when I got there to get ready to end the night. She got my evening shoes and put them on for me as my shoes was hurting very much. She made sure our desserts was left so we could eat them as we went and took couple photos. It was a pleasure to have Rebecca with us on our special day and we are going to miss her. We can't wait to come back to ALCH in the future. All of our guests complemented how stunning the venue is and how amazing the food was. The food was exceptional and beautifully layed out. Thank you so much.

The best day ever!!

Ashton lodge country house, wow! We fell in love with it on our first viewing, went away and a few days later had booked it.
Mia was our contact at the venue and was there on our wedding day. It was the perfect venue, and many of our guests have since said how lovely it was. The whole wedding day was co-ordinated well, and our wedding could not have gone any better!! We had the best day!
Sometimes, food at weddings isn’t the best because they have to cater for a large group, but the food at Ashton Lodge was good quality, presented well and plenty of it!
Thank you to all the staff who worked our wedding day, everyone was friendly and approachable.

The Most Perfect Wedding Day

Wow I honestly don’t know where to start!
From the moment we first ever stepped foot into Ashton Lodge we knew this was the place we wanted to get married
The most stunning venue from the very moment you drive up it’s winding driveway
The large garden surrounded by countryside makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere however its location is really moments away from civilisation and so easy to find. So many beautiful spots throughout the grounds for photos (we are still awaiting for our professional photos to come back but are so excited to see them)
The country house oozes in class with a modern twist. The decor is beautiful and...

Wow I honestly don’t know where to start!

So many beautiful spots throughout the grounds for photos (we are still awaiting for our professional photos to come back but are so excited to see them)
The country house oozes in class with a modern twist. The decor is beautiful and we personally didn’t feel the need to really add much to it other than some personal touches. We used Ashton Lodges own centre pieces for the tables which were beautiful.
We personally wanted a venue that had everything we needed in one place and Ashton Lodge certainly ticked all those boxes;
The dressing room was calming and a perfect space for myself and my bridal party to relax and enjoy getting ready on the morning together. I would definitely recommend the breakfast platter, the fresh pastries and fruit was a lovely touch.
It’s stunning ceremony room is so bright and fresh
The lounge bar area is cozy but ample size
The marquee is airy and spacious but still allows for a more intimate feel
All the bedrooms are spacious each with their own bathroom making guests stay very comfortable
The food was just out of this world, all our guests raved about how fresh, delicious and generous the portions were!
And finally the staff… Karen looked after us on the final planning of our wedding and also on our big day and she went above and beyond to ensure that everything went the way we had wanted, being attentive to us as bride and groom ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the day. All the waiting staff and bar staff were extremely welcoming and friendly throughout the day and night.
Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and all of our decor etc was tidily packed and ready for us to take away.
We honestly would recommend Ashton Lodge to absolutely anyone looking for a perfect wedding venue. We had the most relaxed and memorable day that us and our guests just can’t stop talking about!

Our day-of coordinator Mia was excellent, and she was also the one we met with in our planning meetings. She was very professional, thought of everything, and guided us through the day expertly, making sure we never needed to worry about anything. We also deferred to her experienced opinion in planning when it came down to details we didn't have an opinion on (such as what beer to serve as neither of us drink it!) which was very helpful. The team has done a lot of weddings, and you can really tell they know what they're doing. The venue itself was gorgeous, with lovely countryside views (lots of beautiful locations for couple's photos) while still being relatively easy to reach.

The food was excellent. The groom wishes to emphasise: not just good from a "mass-catered" standard, but to a restaurant standard, impressive when serving 80 people! We had the relaxed menu, and our guests loved the fun interactive element of carving the meat themselves at the table (chefs' hats provided by the venue :D). We also had 3 canapes which they made sure we would be able to have on the day, and pizza from their outdoor pizza oven in the evening which they also put in our room. We went with the house drinks package, which provided plenty of wine and the bride really enjoyed the prosecco. The bar also had reasonable prices, and friendly staff. We also went for the fire pit and s'mores which went down well with our guests (and particularly the groom).

The few gripes we had were that there's no lift, so guests who are staying with mobility issues might have difficulty reaching their room, especially as there are none on the ground floor. There's also an extra cost if you want to have your wedding outside, which can then be moved inside on the day by the registrar (that's true at any venue though), and you would also have to hire your own furniture if you were having an outdoor wedding. Finally, there a couple of niggles in the planning stages, such as limited flexibility on meeting times, and overly detailed information requirements about guests with dietary requirements. However, none of these issues overshadowed a truly incredible day.

Overall we felt very well looked after, and they were really focussed on making sure that we and our guests had a wonderful day. We would absolutely recommend them in the future.

Great Venue

A lovely venue and our day was better than we could have expected. Mia and Becky made the planing and day go smoothly. Mia was all over everything on the day and nothing was too small.
