Incredible setting for a wedding

We had the most beautiful day, our guests all commented on how lovely the venue was. Having the day in the most idyllic spot really made it so special for us. What I loved most about this venue was the different areas to utilise, we really didn’t want the whole day to be within the same 4 walls and Clifford Barton allowed us to have so much range! The ceremony spot and drinks reception were undercover outside overlooking the stunning lake, we had the wedding breakfast in the beautiful rustic swallow barn, some outdoor dancing and lawn games under the stretch tent and on the gravel, the first dance in the woods, the evening food in the corn barn...

We had the most beautiful day, our guests all commented on how lovely the venue was. Having the day in the most idyllic spot really made it so special for us. What I loved most about this venue was the different areas to utilise, we really didn’t want the whole day to be within the same 4 walls and Clifford Barton allowed us to have so much range! The ceremony spot and drinks reception were undercover outside overlooking the stunning lake, we had the wedding breakfast in the beautiful rustic swallow barn, some outdoor dancing and lawn games under the stretch tent and on the gravel, the first dance in the woods, the evening food in the corn barn and then back to the swallow barn for the musician. Everything was close together so it still felt like we were all one party! Vicki and Gavin were so so helpful on the day and the day before, we had so much freedom with decoration including hanging disco balls from the ceiling, they allowed us to use the lake in our wedding, we bought a rowing boat with us and did a lap of the lake during our reception drinks which was so much fun! Having the venue space from the Friday to the Monday was so perfect as it allowed us to extend the weekend and make even more memories with our close friends and family, we were able to decorate, have a bbq and even use the hottub the day before which was so unique! They were so accommodating even when the party finished at midnight Gavin gave us a lift in the golf buggy up to the caban; the sweetest ‘honeymoon suite’ with the most picturesque view! We loved every minute of our wedding weekend and Vicki and Gavin are the most relaxed and accommodating hosts/coordinators! We will be forever grateful to them for giving us the best weekend of our lives!

Perfect rural wedding venue

We are so glad that we chose Clifford Barton for our wedding venue. It was absolutely perfect, everything we wanted and more! We were wowed by the lake and the beautiful surroundings initially and the indoor spaces are also great. We loved that we had exclusive hire for the whole weekend and we could have people to stay on site too. The barn was perfect for our reception and it worked well for all guests. The owners Vicki and Gavin were lovely to deal with they helped us with planning and they made sure the day went really smoothly. The day flowed without us having to think which was perfect. The owners Vicki and Gavin were lovely to deal with they helped us with planning and they made sure the day went really smoothly. The day flowed without us having to think which was perfect. Everything is thought of with this venue from lawn games being provided to a fun buggy ride to the lakeside ceremony if needed, they even helped us find the best photo spots. This year they installed a catering tent which our caterers said was great and saved us having to hire one. As the sun went down we could see so many stars and it was magical to have the fire pit going and the fairy lights on around the courtyard. It was a perfect wedding venue loved by all our guests we have definitely fallen in love with Clifford Barton.

Stunning and unique venue in the Dartmoor countryside with incredible hosts

We had our wedding at Clifford Barton September 2024 and the venue itself is truly spectacular with its location in Dartmoor. We fell in love with the venue because of its uniqueness and how flexible Vicki and Gavin were, which meant we could personalise every aspect of our day. Vicki and Gavin were great hosts, very easily contactable, super helpful in the run up but not overbearing which we valued and on the day we could not rate them enough, they were very relaxed and made sure the day ran smoothly, nothing was too much for them! We also loved their ethos of making sure the events impact on the surrounding environment was minimal, which was important to us. We would highly recommend Clifford Barton as a wedding venue.

It was just everything!

Clifford Barton was the most perfect venue - natural, beautiful and simply amazing! It's a gorgeous backdrop in the Devon valley, if natural if you're vibe - check out this place. We loved it from the minute we arrived. Vicki and Gavin (owners) are so kind and accommodating and made the day flow without a hitch! I couldn't recommend this place more and wish we could recreate our wedding again and again.

Completely & Utterly LOVED

I truly have nothing bad to say about Clifford Barton - for us it was the perfect venue with the perfect hosts.
We feel really lucky to have found it and grabbed one of their limited hot spots. When you first come into Clifford Barton, you want to take a photo - the surroundings are so beautiful, giving a real feeling of seclusion and tranquility.

The thing that made it for us was the friendliness and willingness from Vicki and Gavin. They are just so lovely and great and wonderful and made our day feel exactly how we imagined it to. We didn't want a typical wedding venue but also knew we wanted guidance and help and...

The thing that made it for us was the friendliness and willingness from Vicki and Gavin. They are just so lovely and great and wonderful and made our day feel exactly how we imagined it to. We didn't want a typical wedding venue but also knew we wanted guidance and help and Clifford Barton is where we found our happy medium.

Vicki and Gavin really ran with the creative ideas that we presented to them, even on the day when it was a little on the rainy side, they totally rolled with it and allowed for flexibility.

There are multiple places to hold your ceremony at the venue; The lake, the woods, the corn barn - each of them are gorgeous. The barn is already decorated beautifully with lighting and you can add whatever you like to make it unique and special to you.

Our guests loved that there were multiple areas for them to go to and being able to stay on site in the cottages was a real bonus. We were able to have most of our guests stay really close to the venue, whether it be in the cottages or bell tents on site, camping in the campsite next door or the various rental cottages 5 mins away. This was lush to have everyone take a holiday down in Devon and make a weekend of it.

Honestly, super super chuffed and grateful to have found Clifford Barton.

We are so happy that we chose Clifford Barton for our wedding which took place early this July. The venue itself is in an outstandingly beautiful area which is secluded and feels truly special. Having the venue from Friday afternoon until Monday meant we could relax with our guests before, during and after the big day, this was very important to us.

The entire process with owners Vicki and Gavin was seamless from our first viewing through to our wedding weekend. Communication with them was very easy and they gave us many helpful tips that made a huge difference on making the whole weekend run smoothly. Communication with them was very easy and they gave us many helpful tips that made a huge difference on making the whole weekend run smoothly. They both went above and beyond to make sure that everything was as we had hoped, even down to having a well supplied fire pit, BBQ equipment and getting the wood fired hot tub ready for us on the Sunday afternoon (the view from the hot tub was breathtaking and what a joy not having the usual chlorine smell from a conventional hot tub!). The canoe bar down by the lake after our ceremony was a huge hit and a memorable talking point from the wedding.
The cottages we stayed in over the weekend were charming and very comfortable with beautiful gardens and space to relax outside as well as plenty of room inside for getting ready.

Overall we can't recommend Clifford Barton enough if you want a relaxed, personal feeling wedding in the most beautiful location with the most attentive and thoughtful hosts. Thank you so much Vicki & Gavin!

Wedding ceremony and reception at Clifford Barton

We were looking forward to our daughter's wedding in a beautiful
rural location but nothing could have quite prepared us for the
absolutely magical atmosphere of Clifford Barton.
The day was unforgettable - being ferried to the lovely lakeside
location on a buggy, disguised from arriving guests behind a willow screen, followed by the procession of bridesmaids and bride alongside the beautiful lake created an expectant serenity at one with nature.
The reception in the lovely old Devon barn allowed plenty of space for revellers well into the early hours. Those who would rather sit and chat could do so outside in the courtyard with benches and a firepit. The adjacent 2 cottages for the families of the...

There’s a range of accommodation portions both onsite and loads in the local area as well; alongside a honeymoon cabana which was 1) incredibly comfy 2) bloody beautiful to wake up to the next morning and we definitely plan to head back to celebrate need our anniversary.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day, which was made even better with it being held at Clifford Barton and supported by Gavin and Vicki. Thank you both so much!

An incredibly special place with the most genial hosts imaginable...

We recently stayed, with our extended family and friends, at Clifford Barton, for the wedding of our daughter and her husband. From the very outset, it was clear that the venue had a unique and special feeling. Set on a very private and secluded farm which is carefully managed by the owners for wildlife, it is completely immersed in nature. We all felt enveloped in peace, tranquillity and beauty, all of which provided the most perfect backdrop to this most special of occasions.

The cottages are of the highest possible quality; extremely comfortable, well-equipped and tastefully furnished homes from home. Vicki and Gavin are the most genial hosts imaginable; they anticipated our every need before we did and...

The final “walk up the aisle” from the cottage through the woods, swifts screaming joyously overhead, for the marriage on Bridesmere Bridge, will never be forgotten.

Clifford Barton is simply peerless; words cannot convey how special this place really is.

Most amazing weekend of our lives.

Well where to start, we had been looking at several venues prior to looking at Clifford Barton. We were looking for a real country theme to our wedding so a select few were in mind. After looking at others we came across Clifford Barton and immediately thought wow.
We immediately contacted Vicki and Gavin to see if we could come and have a look, gladly we were given a tour of the whole venue. The choices and options of how to make your day as special as it should be was fantastic, once seeing the lake we knew exactly how we wanted to do it.
