Dreamy Wedding at East Afton
We got married at East Afton Farmhouse recently and every aspect of our wedding, from the first viewing to the day after the wedding was amazing! We got the inclusive small wedding package, and if you’re looking for a small, intimate venue for a hobbitcore farmhouse wedding, look no further! We saw the place twice prior to the wedding and the venue is genuinely amazing, with beautiful grounds, views of the downs and great facilities.
What really sold us on the venue was the vibe that Chloe and Mel gave us, when we met them during the viewings and checkin, we really felt we were in good hands. We used numerous local vendors on the Isle (which we highly recommend) and they already knew everyone by name! They coordinated us with West Wight Alpacas, the Island Meat Company, Island Bell Tents, Isle of Wight Registrars Office and Isle of Wight Cocktails perfectly!
The venue was so nice, with the Piglets, Snug and Bell Tent additions, we had enough accommodation for 25 of our guests. The experience was truly magical, with the big kitchen, bbq and cinema room, it was truly like having a big sleepover with all our best friends. The views of the sky both in the day and at night were spectacular. Between the gardens, different floors, balconies and the fields, we were able to even do a pre marriage scavenger hunt and had a whole room decorated to do some traditional ceremonies too!
Chloe from start to finish was incredible, with snappy response times and an answer for every question we had (neurotic groom)! She was so helpful with further recommendations and was so clear and transparent with all aspects of the wedding, from the venue decor to an inventory of cookware the main house has. She coordinated all the little things that made our wedding go so smoothly, from the cocktail fountain, to a cheeky burger lunch at the Cow to the alpaca petting session!
Mel from the moment we met her gave us an air of calm. She’s so experienced that probably any question or worry you have about the wedding day, she’s probably dealt with before. She was so thorough with our wedding timetable, on top of the announcements and made everyone feel so welcome. She sorted out our crisps, snack display, bubble wands, dried flower arrangement and loads more little details that made our wedding so beautiful.
Our guests unanimously agreed that the place allowed us to have an intimate, highly emotional and most importantly, FUN wedding! They really helped make the best day of our lives what it was. We would wholeheartedly recommend East Afton as your wedding venue. We trusted them, and got the most magical three days of our lives in return.East Afton Farmhouse's reply:

We have struggled to write this review as everything about East Afton Farmhouse for our small wedding was so perfect we haven't yet been able to find the words; we think that speaks words in itself!
We chose East Afton for 3 reasons: we love the Isle of Wight, we wanted our wedding celebrations to last a few days and it had to be dog-friendly. East Afton ticked all the boxes and we knew it was the venue for us from the moment we arrived and met Chloe on a cold Autumn day. It didn't disappoint from that moment onwards.
The venue is idyllic with the gorgeous house, courtyard and barns, surrounded by fields.
Chloe, Mel and team were phenomenal. They have thought of everything and have perfected their small wedding package.
Chloe was on hand throughout the planning process and had a quick answer to every question or worry we had. We met Mel, our wedding co-ordinator, the day before our wedding. She knew exactly what we had discussed with Chloe and she helped us with our setup, including creating the most beautiful table layout. She went above and beyond on our wedding day and nothing was too much trouble for her. She worked so hard, but was always so relaxed, and nailed our ceremony music! Both Mel and Chloe put us at complete ease and we had absolute confidence that they would bring our wedding plans to life.
The food provided by Kev Hendy was delicious and the type of quality you'd expect from a michelin star restaurant! He was so accommodating in creating the bespoke menu that we wanted and which all our guests enjoyed.
East Afton offers amazing accommodation and nearly all our guests stayed on site. We made use of the facilities (including outdoor pizza oven, BBQ and gigantic well kitted out kitchen) both the day before and day after our wedding which was perfect to enable guests to get to know each other and then debrief after the big day. If we needed anything during our stay, Chloe/Mel were quick to assist and Chloe popped in to see us each day which was a lovely touch.
We think East Afton is amazing value for money, given the service and quality that is provided. It's such a perfect setting and offers everything you could possibly need, and more, for an incredible small wedding.East Afton Farmhouse's reply:

We had a brilliant stay and experience at East Afton Farm for our wedding.
Having the venue a few days before the wedding allowed us to be prepped and calm ahead of the big day.
There was lots of space in the house and the grounds. We had lots of good comments about how beautiful the venue was.
The team at East Afton were outstanding—they went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Special thanks to Chloe who helped plan and organise details of the day and to Mel for making the day run smoothly, nothing was too much trouble and she was great fun to have around. They were always on hand to answer any questions or provide assistance.
The venue had everything we could have asked for, we did the full weekend package and really pleased we did as lots was included meaning organising ran smoothly.

The most idyllic beautiful venue.
East Afton was the first and as it happens, the only venue, we booked to visit during a last minute trip over from the mainland. As soon as we drove in we knew this was the place for us.
Leading up to our big day Chloe was fantastic. Travelling from the mainland, we thought things might be slightly difficult, but Chloe put us at ease right from start to finish. Whenever we called or emailed she responded so quickly and dealt with everything we needed her to and more.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect in every way.
The day before we had a run through of the day and what was going to happen with both Chloe and Mel, which really helped settle any nerves we had, as we knew they had everything in order. Nothing was ever too much for them.
We have to say a huge thank you to Mel. We certainly didn’t realise how hands on and involved she would be. She is absolutely incredible at what she does.
We cannot praise her enough for how she kept everything and everyone in order on the day. Everything ran like clock work, even when the weather looked like it was having a little moment. She switched things around so effortlessly. When talking to guests after the wedding, everyone has praised her and mentioned how fantastic she was.
We had a mid week wedding and stayed in the main house - it was amazing. We invited our friends and family over the day after our wedding for a pizza party just so that we could enjoy the venue and the beautiful gardens some more. We made so many fantastic memories during our stay that will last a lifetime.
If we could change anything it would be just that we had more time to stay and enjoy it further.
Many of our friends and family stayed at Tapnell farm too, in the various different accommodations they have to offer. They were all very impressed with the facilities and activities on site as they had something for everyone. The farm and the aqua park were a huge hit with both the young and the older guests.
Overall our whole time at East Afton was fantastic and we got to have our dream wedding in a perfect setting.

The team at East Afton Farmhouse were helpful and friendly from the very start. We don't live on the island so we knew that organising a wedding would come with its challenges, but Chloe made everything as easy as possible - nothing was ever too much trouble. From recommendations of suppliers to transporting a fibreglass cow and generally helping with our many many questions. Their process of organising a wedding was supportive, efficient and facilitated creating a flawless day that us and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed. Their way of being organised meant that we didn't have to worry about anything on the day. Mel was our coordinator for the day and she listened to our vision and expectations and delivered everything and more and moreover with much laughter and smiles.
Other factors that made EAF a winning venue for us were:
- 4 day venue hire - because we were there, we ran a relaxed Sunday event, something which we couldn't have done at another venue
- accommodation on site
- an amazing chef, Kevin, affiliated with the venue
- no corkage fees
- strong and longstanding relationships with most island suppliers meaning that the venue coordinated with them around the wedding instead of us having to organise.
- ferry discount for people staying at EAF and Tapnell Farm
- multiple different spaces on the site, allowing you to make the day what you want.
- beautiful surroundings and close to practically everything (beach, churches, shops, food, ferry port etc.)
Our wedding weekend was so special and we feel so lucky to have found East Afton Farmhouse. We wouldn't change a thing and can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks again to Chloe, Mel and the team!East Afton Farmhouse's reply:

As soon as we visited East Afton on an open day, we fell in love with it and knew we wanted to get married there. The venue is just so beautiful and the prospect of having it all to ourselves for 4 nights was just unbelievable!
From the off and throughout the whole process of organising our big day, Chloe and her team were so efficient and catered to all of our needs, also providing advice and guidance when needed. We didn't feel stressed or anxious in the slightest in the build-up to the day itself, as we knew everything had been organised so beautifully.
We were made to feel so welcome in the venue when we arrived and were able to make the most of the weekend, having a BBQ on the afternoon before the wedding. We really felt at home. The wedding day itself couldn't have gone any better. Chloe, Mel and the team were just fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. They were all so helpful, Mel even took our one-year-old daughter off for a nap before the ceremony! Kev and his catering team produced the most incredible food too. They all went above and beyond to make the day perfect for us and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you all so, so much for everything!!
