The zoo was the perfect venue for us and I'm sure for lots of couples, there were so many great things that it's hard to put it all into one review!
The ceremony room is beautiful, the location was perfect for us, as it is such an easy venue for guests to park at or get public transport to and from. We loved the fact that we could both get ready in rooms within the venue itself - couples can easily avoid each other if they wanted to but we loved the option to spend some time together in the morning whilst also having plenty of space to get ready. The room for "the boys" is a really special library, and "the girls" have a lovely bright room which is ideal for hair and make-up: getting ready to the sounds of monkeys in the early morning was pretty special!
The venue combined so many of the key elements we were looking for - a traditional venue (with a twist!). We had guests with accessibility requirements which the venue worked with us to accommodate with ease. The option for our guests to explore the zoo during the reception and whilst we had our photos taken meant that everyone was kept well entertained in what can otherwise be a "slower" time.
The Mansion House events team were so accommodating and helpful in the lead up to and on the day itself - we can only thank them for all of their support, kindness, and flexibility which helped everything go smoothly on the day. The staff were consistently professional and personable, and we received lots of compliments on the food as well!

We had the pleasure of using this venue for my daughters Bridal Shower. This was a small event, held in the downstairs bar area, with High Tea and games we had brought along. All staff at the Mansion House were extremely professional, friendly and accommodating, both in the run up to the event and during it. For example my elderly mother arrived very tired and thirsty after a busy morning, and they brought her some tea and offered to make her some toast too, even though this was not 'part of the package'. The house itself is a lovely old historic building with beautiful grounds and views, and we had a chance to see some of the larger rooms as well, which were wonderful. Everything was well planned and timed, and we were well looked after throughout. Would happily recommend.Mansion House, Edinburgh Zoo's reply:

May the 4th wedding
The whole experience with the Zoo team was incredible.
Before our day the communication was professional and arranging face to face meetings for last minute nerves and queries were met with patience and positivity.
Nothing was too much trouble and our requests were all seen to with a smile.
On the day the team were amazing and the building and grounds were breathtaking.

Wedding 27-04-2024
Kimberley was so helpful with all the decisions and questions we had. She made it a smooth process from start to finish, as well as putting us in touch with external suppliers and recommending photographers.
On the day of and day before the wedding, Ben made us feel so relaxed by coordinating the full event so we could enjoy it to the fullest. -

From the beginning to the end, all events staff were great, catering was fantastic with many guests saying how great the food was, the mansion house and grounds were great, could not fault anything, great value for money. -

Take an original Georgian era Mansion House, hidden in the heart of one of Scotland's most famous tourist attractions. Add that central location, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland's collection of animals, some highly attentive staff and a hugely talented kitchen team and you have an exclusive-use venue which is guaranteed to produce the perfect day for the happy couple. Things we loved: accessible from local, national and international perspectives; parking provision and a hotel less than 100m walk away.. Unique and unusual. A beautiful setting with dozens of photo opportunities. Dedicated rooms for the Bridal party and Groomsmen, with lots of break-out areas and places for catch-ups and conversations. Guests have open access to the Zoo, which gives a great bit of down-time for the Bride and Groom to have photos and relax while their guests are entertained! -

Fantastic venue
A beautiful venue with a variety of packages to suit all budgets and wedding sizes. Our wedding coordinator (Kimberley) was fantastic. She made all the planning and organizing in the lead up to our wedding straightforward and exciting. She was always on hand to help with any questions/changes we had, nothing was ever a problem and communication was excellent throughout.
On the day itself, the venue looked beautiful and all the catering staff were so friendly and helpful from start to finish. Their professionalism, warmth and efficiency was impressive. We had some guests with mobility issues and others with special dietary requirements and all were catered to throughout the whole day/evening with ease. The meal we had was delicious and all our guests as well as us (the happy couple) thoroughly enjoyed the day. Would highly recommend Edinburgh Zoo/Mansion house to anyone looking for a wedding venue. -
