Stunning venue with amazing food
Thank you to Becci for helping us organise the wedding and feel calm and prepared and thanks to Lisa for making our dreams come true on the day!
The bridal prep room is stunning and was the perfect place to get ready in the morning I had a party of 8, 2 hair stylists and 2 make up artists and there was loads of room! It also looked amazing on the photos! Definitely go for the fruit and pastries it adds to the vibe!
The locations you could get married in were all lovely but the stretch tent is cozy and sheek at the same time.
All the guests loved the food said it was the best they had ever had at a wedding!
The dance floor was also the perfect size to have a boogey.
There are also loads of places for guests to socialise without everyone feeling separated.
It's honestly the only venue I could ever imagine getting married at!

Wedding day April 2022
From the moment we drove in to Old Rectory House we fell in love with it. It was the first venue we had looked for our wedding and we both came out beaming and wanting to book it. We looked at a further two venues but they didn’t come close in any way shape or form! We had to postpone and the staff were so understanding, reassuring, caring and just generally lovely. We kept ourselves going by visiting for dinner and afternoon tea when we could and finally had our day in April 2022, it was magical from start to finish. Lisa and Becci were amazing. The venue is very unique and special, so beautifully pretty and charming. To anyone thinking of having any event here - we can’t recommend this venue highly enough! They have some amazing recommended suppliers that they work with too, including Stephen Williams photography, Emex flowers, Dinner Jacket DJs, Amelia Bourne Makeup. Wedding - July 2021
Loved having our wedding at the Old Rectory. The flexibility due to COVID took away massive amounts of stress particularly with the ongoing restriction announcements.
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue and all staff were fantastic and catered to exactly the wedding we wanted.

Wedding 4th Sept
I can’t express how amazing the staff were at Old Rectory House. Not only was the wedding amazing, perfect and beautiful. Throughout lockdown after 2 date changes they were fantastic! Grace was fab! Kate was fab on the evening of my wedding. All the staff were helpful, polite and just really nice to be around. So many guests have complimented the venue and the staff.
The food was impressive! All my guests commented on how fantastic the evening buffet was. Top marks to the chef. Excellent job.

Beautiful venue & sensational food - suggestions for improvements to consider
We booked our wedding with the Old Rectory House back in February 2019 with the previous Wedding Coordinator, Lindsey. Unfortunately, like many couples, our August 2020 wedding was postponed, and we decided to move to August 2021. During this time, Lindsey moved on and the planning and organisation was taken over by Grace.
We chose The Old Rectory as our wedding venue as we always wanted a small, intimate wedding. Our final numbers on the day were 45 day guests and 65 for the evening. Other venues I had looked at online appeared intimidating, and I was worried for some venues there’s a large space to fill. What I loved about the Old Rectory was that the venue already comes with its own style and character, with the beautiful decorative floral ceiling in The Orangery, and much of the venue maintaining original features. Therefore, there is not a great deal you need to worry about in terms of filling rooms with décor, which was great for us.
Like many couples, we had the added stress of trying to plan a wedding during 2020. Luckily for us, we only had to postpone once, and with our wedding being on a Monday, all our suppliers were able to accommodate our new date. We met with Grace for the first time around 3 months before the wedding, to iron out any new plans we had made for the new date and to go through the main running of the day. We were happy to see at this meeting that the venue had developed the outdoor space with undercover seating, which our guests benefitted from particularly on the evening.
I kept in communication with Grace via email after this meeting in the lead-up to the wedding. Unfortunately, we did encounter a miscommunication over the morning of the wedding, which Grace managed to resolve. Originally, we had been told I would be able to get ready in the bridal suite from 8.30am (this was something I had discussed on at least three occasions via email and in person, originally with Lindsey but also with Grace in our 3-month face-to-face meeting). However, after speaking to Grace 6 weeks before the wedding, it transpired that they had another wedding the day before so the bridal suite would not be available until at least 11am. Understandably, this sent me into a panic, as for the last two years of planning I had been told I would be able to get ready at the venue and had organised the hair stylists and make-up artist to arrive at this time. In hindsight, if I knew that this was never a ‘guaranteed’ plan, I would have made arrangements to get ready at home and organise wedding car transport etc. but with only 6 weeks to go when I found out this information, it was not possible. After speaking to my sister and I, Grace was able to offer us the Fig Room to get ready in from 8.30am, and then as soon as the bridal suite had been vacated and cleaned, we could move into there to continue getting ready.
A week before the wedding, I contacted Grace via email just to ask a minor query, but I received an auto-response message to say she was on annual leave until after the wedding. Although Grace did end up responding to my email despite being on holiday, I think it would have been beneficial to have sent a quick message to any couples with weddings during her annual leave to explain she wasn’t going to be there on the day and who would be our point of contact. I am sure many brides and grooms would agree, that when planning a wedding, you feel that you place a lot of trust in people who you aren’t always very familiar with, so this added reassurance and communication goes a long way. After asking the question, Grace explained that her colleague Kate would be there on the day instead.
On the morning of the wedding, we arrived at 8.30am as planned. We walked cautiously into reception (conscious that we knew another wedding party were still there) we could see they had left a ‘reserved’ sign outside the Fig room for us. A young girl who was serving breakfast brought in tea, coffee, orange juice, toast and croissants for my bridal party, which we did not expect and we really appreciated this touch. We spent most of the morning getting ready in the Fig Room, with my sister keeping a lookout to see if Grace’s colleague Kate had arrived so we could get confirmation to move into the bridal suite. My sister eventually found her and we moved into in the bridal suite to continue getting ready. In hindsight, I am grateful we did have the option of the Fig Room to get ready, as I felt that the bridal suite was a bit of a tight squeeze (bride, 4 bridesmaids, MOTB, 2 hair stylists) so the make-up artist chose to stay downstairs in the Fig Room which worked out well. The venue left out some lovely cakes and pastries in the bridal suite too which again was completely unexpected and a lovely touch.
As you can imagine the rest of the day felt like a whirlwind. Shortly after the ceremony finished we had our drinks reception and canapes, which from this point forward was just the beginning of the most sensational food. It has been the most popular comment we have had from our guests, that the food was the best food they had experienced at a wedding. I am disappointed that I was too nervous on the day to eat much but seeing our guests enjoying the food we had selected was lovely. We chose bruschetta, roast beef and cheesecake for our wedding breakfast, and I know many guests were blown away by the portion sizes. We absolutely could not fault the food served throughout the day, and of course the fantastic waiting staff that were on hand into the evening. We upgraded to a hot buffet for our evening guests, which again was incredible. I just wanted to reiterate again at this point how welcoming and accommodating the serving staff were – they worked incredibly hard to make our day so special.
Overall, I cannot deny that this was the best day of our lives. Although it wasn’t always smooth-running, there is very little I would change. The main feedback I would suggest the Old Rectory takes forward for future couples would be:
- Be clear with your communication, particularly if colleagues who have been responsible for the planning of your wedding are not going to be there on the actual day.
- It would have been nice for someone to have greeted us in the morning when we arrived at the venue, or for Kate to have made her presence known to us when she arrived on site – just popping your head in and saying hello and checking we were okay would have been greatly appreciated, but this was left down to the serving staff who were busy accommodating the previous day’s wedding at the same time.
- The first time I met the hotel manager was minutes before the ceremony began to tell me where the registrars were waiting for me – she did not introduce herself to me, but I was told later she was the manager, so again, I feel that the management at the hotel need to take a bit more ownership over communication – particularly with a bridal party! It was not clear for me or my bridal party who to go to for a point of contact.
Finally, my favourite parts about the venue:
- The most sensational food you will ever have at a wedding!
- The serving staff work so incredibly hard and were just genuinely lovely people.

The most perfect day we could have asked for!
From the planning leading up to the day, to the day it’s self. I was just blown away by how fantastic yourself & the staff, you’ve really made our day! It was absolutely amazing from our arrival to finish. From speaking to our guests they have said that the venue was perfect, the staff was incredible - nothing was too much for them, they got involved with our guests & they/you made everything so easy! The food was incredible too, we’ve had so many compliments (particularly from our veggie guests!)
So from the bottom of our hearts, I cannot thank you, your staff, the chefs & everyone involved in making Old Rectory such an amazing place to be - many memories created that we shall cherish forever because of the work & kindness shown yesterday!From the planning leading up to the day, to the day it’s self. Wow! What a wonderful wedding weekend we had!

Throughout the 7 months of planning, Lindsey made us feel confident that our day was important, not only to us, but to ORH too.
The wedding ceremony in the lavender barn was perfect. A beautiful, intimate room for our small wedding party to join us in.
Jackie was an absolute star. There was nothing she wouldn't have done to accommodate our guests, she is such a beautiful person & made our evening so very special ... thank you lovely lady.
Beautiful, period rooms, so full of character, outstanding menu, full credit given to the chef & catering staff, as every single meal during our stay was nothing less than perfect.
A big thank you to every single person involved in our day. If we could do it all again, it would be you we'd choose ... highly recommended, first class service.Wow, what a wonderful wedding weekend was had!

We had an absolutely amazing wedding! Staff couldn’t do enough for you. The food was amazing, everybody commented on how nice it was. The grounds and surrounding area is like a little hidden gem. I couldn’t have asked for a more better place to have our wedding held. The rooms were old and quirky in style, but modern. It was just an amazing day! If I could do it all over again, I’d choose this place hands down!.....We had an absolutely amazing wedding! Staff couldn’t do enough for you. We were in tears of pure joy at our wedding on 15th of September. A huge thank you to everyone at the Hotel/Orangery for helping us to make it a magical day to remember for the rest of our lives.
We already knew everyone that we had worked with to plan our wedding day was lovely but we can't speak highly enough of the entire team at the venue who definitely went the extra mile and then some to provide us and our guests with everything we had wished for. I'd like to also say a big thank you to Liam for agreeing to film our speeches, cake cutting and first dance.
Your attention to detail, how you dealt with us from start to finish, the huge amount of food you provided us with, your friendliness and amazing customer service will lead to us not only remembering our wonderful day forever but we will also recommend that anyone should consider using the venue for their wedding day or other celebration.

We held our wedding at The Old Rectory House on the 18th August 2018. Through booking to the actual day, Lindsey and the team are amazing and put you completely at ease. The venue is stunning and quirky, we have fallen in love with the place! The team on the day were so organised, friendly and really went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly.
A special mention to the barmen on the day, they were excellent and the lady overseeing breakfast the next morning, we've received so many comments from our guests on them and how lovely they were.
We cannot thank Lindsey and the team enough for making our day so special and memorable, Sami & Nicky ??We held our wedding at The Old Rectory House on the 18th August 2018. The team on the day were so organised, friendly and really went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly.
A special mention to the barmen on the day, they were excellent and the lady overseeing breakfast the next morning, we've received so many comments from our guests on them and how lovely they were.
