As one of the oldest hotels in Portsmouth, The Royal Maritime Hotel was first established in 1850 as a 'Sailors' Home Cub' when it was set up to look after sailors and mariners who were "between ships". As a Wedding venue, the hotel has a unique charm with maritime themes reflected throughout, with artefacts and paintings reflecting its history. The Royal Maritime Hotel has been hosting beautiful weddings for decades. Being one of the largest wedding venues in Portsmouth, the Hotel is a fully licenced wedding venue which can hold Weddings for up to 400 persons. There is a selection on our banquet menu for all tastes and styles of weddings.

Wedding ceremonys and receptions can be held in two of our event rooms. The larger Trafalgar Ballroom can host up to 400 people and has full banqueting facilities and a large bar. The smaller Nelson Lounge is perfect for more intimate family Weddings, hosting up to 100 guests. With a third events room, Below Decks, capable of hosting up to 100 guests, is perfect for the late night evening receptions, equipped with its own private bar and dance floor.

Many people nowadays prefer to get married in a non-religious setting, but a registry office can seem cold and uninviting. Our event rooms are a perfect alternative; they are grand and warm and available for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

Breakfast is hosted in our Hotel Restaurant, Horatio’s, where we have a private dining room which holds up to 20 people, for your more intimate breakfast gathering. As the happy couple, you can choose from one of our two bridal suites. Each has different characteristics, so you can choose in advance and decide which one will give you the most Magical Wedding Night.
