Located in Newark, Nottinghamshire, Rufford Abbey is a beautiful country park and wedding venue for all seasons. The 12th-century ruins, woodlands, formal gardens, and the lake offer tremendous photography opportunities. Within the park lies Rufford Mill, once a corn mill for the estate. Couples can get lost in the beauty of this venue, enjoying the abundance of history and romance in every corner.
Facilities and Capacity
Rufford Abbey boasts several event spaces for lavish wedding events. The Talbot Suite is a beautiful canvas for ceremonies, situated on the first floor of the mill with ample space for up to 80 guests for dinner. Once the tables are put away, the room can host 100 guests. The Markham Suite is an additional function room on the ground floor that offers an adjacent area for the wedding event. Couples and guests can retreat to this suite for further celebrations, hosting up to 100 guests. Rufford Abbey holds a civil ceremony licence, meaning you can spend the whole day in one magnificent place. Everything here is designed to enhance relaxation and ensure that the happy newlyweds have a special day they will never forget.
Services Offered
Rufford Abbey offers three all-inclusive wedding packages. The Pearl package is perfect for 50 day guests and 100 evening guests and is available midweek in the Talbot Suite. Chiavari chairs, linens, complimentary glasses of bubbles, three-course wedding breakfast and drinks reception services are included. The Ruby and Diamond packages provide equal services with additional amenities and bar options, such as an in-house DJ, extra day guests, and waitress-served canapes. The bar services can include a glass of wine or bottle of beer after the ceremony, half a bottle of wine per guest at the wedding breakfast, and a sparkling wine toast.

Rufford Mill wedding venue... WOW!!
My husband and I were married at Rufford Mill only three days ago; I have had to send a review and thank you to the Team straight away as we were so incredibly happy with our Big Day and we can't stop talking about it.
Seana has been our wedding planner throughout and she has been nothing but a star. Over a years worth of advice, support and constant reassurance from Seana meant that our day ran smoothly and was honestly, so stress free for me, as the Bride. Seana took such good care of us and really made the effort to get to understand what my husband and I were hoping for... and she and her team certainly delivered.
The venue itself is idyllic! There are opportunities for beautfiul photographs to be taken in various locations; lake side, the historical Mill and Abbey, floral gardens and meadow fields. The food was delicious and the service was great. Any dietary needs were catered for without any hesitation... this gave me such confidence. We felt truly spoilt. We have had so many compliments from our guests about the day as a whole and I can't recommend Rufford Mill, to future Newlyweds, enough!

The day we want to do over and over again.
We had our wedding at this incredible venue last week, and we truly can't express how amazing the experience was. The entire team went above and beyond to make our day flawless. The transitions between the ceremony and reception spaces were seamless, and everything flowed effortlessly. We didn’t have to worry about a single detail, thanks to Séana’s expert guidance. She led us through the day with such grace and professionalism, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

Wonderful wedding venue in perfect setting with amazing and friendly staff.
I can’t stay anything bad about Rufford Mill.
We had our wedding their last weekend and everything about it was perfect.
The location its self was stunning and we had wonderful weather so took full use of everything The Mill offered.
Our guests told us it was the best wedding they’d been to in a long time and it was faultless.
Carmel and her team excelled and made sure everything ran smoothly and were friendly from the first meeting.
Contact with staff throughout the planning was simply and they got make to us straight away.
The venue its self has everything you can want.
I personally loved the setting and building itself and the re-decoration and uplift of the additional Markham suite made it even better. A star-lite dance floor has been added.

amazing day
Rufford mill was a beautiful venue for our wedding. the wedding team was really helpful from start to finish and too the pressure off from us. All our guests loved the venue. my husband and i had an amazing day from start to finish. I definitely recommend the venue for a wedding.

Our dream wedding day
We had our perfect wedding day at Rufford Mill thanks to Séana and the team.
Everything was perfect and Séana went above and beyond when we realised the day before we had forgotten an important item for our ceremony. The staff were fabulous, and put us at ease during the planning of our day… and we had two ceremonies so it took a lot of planning and was something completely unknown to them.
Honestly the most perfect venue, 100% recommend to anyone looking to book their wedding.
It makes it even nicer that in years to come we will be visiting Rufford Mill, and hopefully bringing our children here to show them where we got married.

The Most Perfect Day
Our wedding day was everything and more...
We fell in love with this venue the minute we walked onto the grounds. Amazing photo opportunities! There are people around outside the venue as it is a public place. However, no one disturbed or caused any trouble. Everyone was very respectful and it was quite nice to have people watching you arrive and congratulating you.
We dealt with wedding planner Carmel. She was so helpful and all our needs and requests were catered for. We had a different wedding breakfast layout to the normal circle tables. This was no trouble and she went above and beyond to make sure my vision came to life. All the staff on the day were so amazing and our wedding ran so smoothly. Very decent size venue. We had 72 day guests and roughly 130 reception guests. There was plenty of room and space for dancing! We went for the honour package which included everything we needed. The food was beautiful and and they had a huge variety of drinks at the bar.
Everyone commented how nice the venue was and I can't fault it in any way. Highly recommended. Can't thank Carmel and the team enough for all their hard work and dedication to making our day so perfect. xx

Rufford gave us our dream Wedding day!
We had the most amazing Wedding day back in April at Rufford Mill.
All the staff were fabulous!
From the food to the organisation everything was thought of.
I did not have to worry throughout the day, the staff had it all in hand.
We had suprise waiters and the staff went along with it sooo well! Nothing was to much trouble and I would 100% encourage anyone to get married at Rufford.

The most magical day
We had a wonderful wedding at Rufford Mill. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were catered for.
The team that ran the day were introduced to us and checked in regularly throughout our day.
The wedding was everything we hoped for and more, there was no worry, no stress and above all everything ran smoothly.

Our dream wedding from start to finish!
From booking our wedding 4 1/2 years prior to the day (thank you Covid and university), my husband and I could not have wished for an easier experience with the team at Rufford Mill.
Although the menu options had changed (understandably due to our long engagement), we were initially worried, but we needn't have been: the team were so accommodating of our wishes and were extremely flexible with our multiple dietary requirements and late updates. They were fabulous at accommodating for the children and teeny tiny guests, too!
The day itself ran so smoothly. Everyone who was part of the day, from the ladies running the whole thing to the bar and kitchen staff, were so friendly and warm. We were very clear that we wanted quite a relaxed day and they managed this beautifully.
I would recommend this venue to anyone. I am so grateful that we had our ceremony and reception here as I wouldn't have wanted it anywhere else!

Best day ever
We won our venue hire through Bespoke .. they ladies at Rufford made it so easy for us to make the plans we wanted and was so patient with all my calls and emails.
They were fab on the day and so welcoming! Made me feel at ease when I was so nervous and the food was delicious.

Perfect wedding venue
Our perfect wedding venue. We got married at Rufford in June 2022. The whole day was perfect. The rooms looked amazing throughout the day with a quick and easy turn around. The service and food was absolutely fantastic. We had a lot of compliments regarding the food and staff and we agree it was perfect/delicious!
The staff went above and beyond to make the day so special and thanks to them we both felt at ease throughout the day and everything ran smoothly, we wouldn't have changed anything.
The venue was even more amazing set up and full of people. Highly recommend Rufford Mill as a venue. Beautiful venue and the staff are reliable and organised.

Amazing venue with fantastic staff! We are so lucky to have been able to have our wedding day here! Due to covid we had to change our date numerous times and it was never too much trouble!

Amazing! Made our wedding day perfect!
We initially chose rufford for our wedding venue as they have great packages to choose from which made it all so easy! Seana and Carmel are so nice and helpful and they were so responsive to every question I had (and I had a lot of questions!) honestly they made the whole day run so smoothly and I can’t thank them enough! On top of all that rufford is just a beautiful venue with a lake and the abbey for photo opportunities!

Just fantastic
Well where do l start! The venue is stunning and Carmel and Seana were always on hand with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. They made the whole process run smoothly, l cannot reccomend this place and people enough. It was such a wonderful day ☺️
