Wedding Venues in Cumbria

From the moment we viewed Fairbank we knew it was the venue for us! Fairbank really speaks for itself and the flexibility to DIY and choose your own suppliers according to your needs and vision is super. You can’t predict the weather in the Lakes but Fairbank is well prepared having multiple stunning indoor and outdoor spaces all for your exclusive use. In the months running up to the day we attended an open day for booked couples where we could measure up spaces, show family & friends (you could even bring your wedding planner if you had one) and sit in on an extensive Q&A. Our wedding was in May 2024 on a beautifully sunny weekend - we held our wedding in the ceremony barn followed by confetti, drinks, canapés, games and photos on the lawn. Our wedding breakfast and evening party was in the reception barn with guests free to relax in the gardens whilst we snuck off to the tarn for some epic couple’s photos. The farmhouse was the perfect base to relax in the run-up and post event; we booked an extra night so we had more time to spend with family. The rooms are clean and tidy, the kitchen well equipped (the extra fridge was welcome as it safely stored our wedding cake) and the bridal suite is pure luxury! Owner and wedding coordinator extraordinaire Clare is amazing! She really put us at ease, was friendly, down-to-Earth, attentive and worked tirelessly behind the scenes with her team and our chosen suppliers to ensure our day ran smoothly. We are incredibly happy that we chose Allan Bank for our intimate wedding! The venue is the most wonderful place, set in gorgeous surroundings, with beautiful views of Grasmere in all directions. Everyone at Allan Bank and Annabel Candler (the wedding manager) could not have been more accommodating to our needs! We even had our bouquet and button holes made by the NT gardeners, from flowers grown onsite. Allan Bank will always hold a special place in our hearts and we look forward to visiting again in the future and looking back on our wonderful day. Thank you so much!

I fell in love with the fleece when I first walked in. It gave cosy but modern vibes and I couldn’t fault it. There is a wedding coordinator who has regular meeting to ensure your day is perfect. Very good value for money.

We always knew we wanted a barn, or somewhere similarly rustic for our wedding and Barn in the Fell ticked all the boxes. It's just outside Ambleside which meant all our guests had no problems finding accommodation as well as being a stunning location. The Barn itself is a great size, and the ceremony room downstairs is spacious, and has plenty of options on how you want to dress the room. Sharon and Hogg who own the property were brilliant, they have adapted the barn, building everything you could need in a wedding location and are also open and flexible to ideas on how you might want the place to look for your day. They work with a variety of suppliers and have been incredibly helpful throughout - from letting us sneak in for another look when we visited the location for a second time to helping with suggestions on what other weddings have done and thoroughly taking care of us on the day. We would 100% recommend - this is a beautiful and relaxed place to get married and we loved every minute.

I honestly don't know where to start, there are so many factors about our day that just made it more than we could've ever hoped for. We first met Lynsey, the wedding co-ordinator, around 6 months before our planned wedding date. She put our minds at ease immediately saying we could easily achieve what we wanted within our budget and time frame. Nothing was too much trouble, and when it came to the actual day, we knew we didn't have to worry at all because she had everything planned meticulously. We honestly cannot thank her or recommend her enough! As for the venue, we couldn't have hoped for anything more perfect. We checked into our room and were immediately greeted with stunning views over Bassenthwaite and the gorgeous hotel grounds. The ceremony room and function room were both perfect - who wouldn't want to say 'I do' with views like that in the background! Thank you so much Armathwaite Hall, for delivering our perfect wedding day!

We got married at Drybeck in September 2022 and I can’t think of a more perfect place. It’s just stunning. Barn for food and indoor music/ dancing, outdoor stage for more music, lots of quirky accommodation; yurts gypsy caravans etc (look at the pictures on their website!) all do so beautifully! Also option for bell tents and loads of space for guests who want to camp / van sleep. Not too far from other local accommodation too. Steve the owner and crew were outstanding. Couldn’t fault anything. Steve also did our ceremony which was just lovely, it was his first ceremony and he smashed it, personal, funny, heart warming. He also ran the bar for us as well as lots of other help behind and in front of the scenes. Outdoor ceremony with the sound of the river Eden babbling in the background and a kingfisher flashing around, really couldn’t ask for anything more. Solar panels, eco toilets, hot tubs all added to the loveliness. They went above and beyond to make our day so special. If you’re thinking of getting married here, look no further this is a total gem.

I had my wedding at Lancrigg Hotel in Grasmere, and it exceeded all our expectations. The intimate setting was perfect for our small celebration. The food was exceptional, leaving our guests raving about the delicious menu. The staff at Lancrigg Hotel truly went above and beyond to ensure our wedding was everything we wanted. Their dedication and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of the celebration. From accommodating special requests to anticipating our needs, the team made us feel incredibly cared for. Their professionalism and genuine warmth added an extra layer of joy to our special day, making it an unforgettable experience. Katherine and the team really couldn't do enough for us, they went above and beyond for us, not just on the day of the wedding but also leading up to it. If we had any questions, Katherine was very quick to help. Katherine is just an absolute credit to her self and to skitby, she really can't do enough for you, she just loves what she does and enjoys helping couples have the most perfect unforgettable day. She made the place look fantastic with our decorations ( not that skitby needs it, as it just such a beautiful venue). And did I mention the food, it is out of this world. We had the most perfect special day and night and can't thank the team enough, especially Katherine, the serive is just outstanding

Sarah and Adrian have created the most stunningly beautiful venue we could have imagined. Every step of the way they were warm and welcoming, being totally flexible with the setup of the venue and allowing us to visit many times whilst we were figuring out the logistics of our day! In the days before, they were on-site to help with anything and everything that cropped up, and on the day they were excellent problem-solvers, including assisting the bridal party’s entrance, fixing electrical issues (caused by an external hire) and assisting the caterers waiting tables during the meal. All of their hard work was quiet and efficient, meaning none of our guests even noticed the 20 minute power outage during the meal! We are so grateful that we chose a local venue with such accommodating, kind owners, who would do anything to make your day the best it can be, and can’t recommend booking The Den enough!
