Southlands Barn is a wedding venue on the outskirts of the village of West Chiltington in West Sussex. Set amidst 120 acres of picturesque farmland and overlooking the South Downs National Park, this charming 17th-century barn is the perfect setting for the celebration of a lifetime.
Facilities and Capacity
Southlands Barn is more than a venue; it's an experience. Here, you'll find a beautiful lake, lush green grass, and flowers in every colour. The property offers a choice of indoor and outdoor event spaces, including the pergola ceremony area, the 17th-century Sussex Barn, and the recently converted Cattle Barn dining hall. The stunning Sussex Barn was originally a cattle-holding barn. Today, it features an integrated sound system, hand-cut bottle chandeliers, fairy lights, and a magical ambience, perfect for intimate ceremonies and receptions. The Cattle Barn was formerly a holding barn for carving cattle. Its bifold doors open onto a beautiful courtyard. You'll also find a bar area, toilets, shower facilities, and a games room with a pool table. Southlands Barn provides seating for up to 150 guests and can accommodate up to 170 dinner and evening guests.
Services Offered
Southlands Barn is available for exclusive hire. They offer two-day midweek and three-day weekend packages. The venue fees include chivari chairs, round tables, linens, lighting and decor, a prepping parlour that can accommodate up to eight guests, and a free wine-tasting evening for you and four guests. But it's the people who make Southlands Barn what it is. They're dedicated, hardworking, and ready to go above and beyond to make your dream wedding a reality!

The dream wedding venue!
We had the best day of our lives at our wedding in May and we can’t thank the amazing team at Southlands Barn enough!
We fell in love as soon as we walked through the doors for a tour (even with horrific January weather) and Amy was just so helpful through the whole planning process.
The wine tasting evening a couple of months before was such a fun and special evening (great atmosphere and lots of amazing wines to try).
Setting up the day before was a really lovely, relaxed experience (and we loved the fact you had the venue for 3 days). Sitting down with Jackie and Liv to do a run through of everything at the end of the day meant we had no nerves or worries at all.
On the wedding day the team made everything run so smoothly from start to finish. From a ridiculous pre-6am start for Jackie who let us into the prepping parlour first thing, to us being given a lift back to our cottage in the village once all the guests had gone home at the end of the night. Just the best!
All of our guests absolutely loved the venue and having all the different areas was amazing (the games room was never empty!).
We felt so looked after and honestly loved every second of the lead up and the day itself. Thank you so much Jackie, Liv, Amy, Phil (the best MC!), Jamie and Harvey (and not forgetting the peacocks!). Most amazing team and venue ever!

The most amazing wedding day!
The whole team at Southlands barn were absolutely incredible throughout the whole journey, and they were even more incredible on the day itself.
The venue is such a good design to help the day flow, everything is so well thought out.
I can stress enough how much I recommend this venue. If we could do our wedding over and over again we would always pick Southlands barn! :)

We just had a blast from start to finish they made every moment fun and stress free.
We had a clear idea of how we wanted our day to be, The Southlands team made it happen.
I can not state enough what a great team and great venue Southlands wedding venue is.
The connection to St Marys Church was just perfect and travelling between the two was so easy and quick.
Our guest all found local accommodation, air BnB's all around the village meant everyone was local and could take advantage of the shuttle bus ( what an incredible service that was).
If you want "your perfect day" please look at Southlands Barn.
I can not state enough what a great team and great venue Southlands wedding venue is.

The most amazing day of our lives!
From the first visit to our big day we couldn’t have asked for more. This venue and staff were perfect. They could not do enough for us. They were very accommodating. We had regular communication with them. They assisted with the most minute details. They were all extremely friendly and professional. They made our guests and our bridal party feel so special. We feel that we have new friends and would highly recommend this magical and beautiful setting for weddings and parties etc.

An absolute dream
Absolutely adored our experience with Southlands. All of the team are just so friendly and helpful, we wouldn't have changed a thing about any of it!
Even with quite a bit of rain we had a magical wedding day and reception at Southlands Barn and are so so happy in our venue choice!
The ability to set up the day before is so helpful (not to mention amazing value!!) and takes away so much of the stress as it's exactly how you want it without running around on your wedding day.
Since we first visited we knew this was the venue for us, it feels so homely and there was just something different than the other barn venues we'd visited prior to this.
All our guests complemented the venue, we barely had to decorate as it already had so much charm.
Oh, and we can't not mention the cows!!!! Hand feeding highland cows on our wedding day was just amazing, core memory made!

A special wedding venue!
It is hard to put into words how special this venue is. The venue is absolutely stunning, has lots of character and charm set in the rural countryside of West Sussex.
When we first did the video tour we knew this was the venue for us. Something about it just drew us to it. They were so friendly, charming and realistic. They were not pushy at all and allowed you to do your own thing.
The staff are incredible, shout to Jackie, Phil, Amy and Liv were amazing throughout the whole process. They were so friendly and accomdating.
We had the best time, it was a magical day and we would choose to do it all over again at Southlands!

Felt like home for the day!
All the crew at Southlands Barn are just wonderful. They made us feel so welcome from viewing the venue through to the day itself! They are the ultimate hype people to get you ready and even more excited to get married! The venue is stunning, can't fault it!

From the moment we stepped into this amazing venue we knew it was the right one! There is not a thing I could say to fault it. The staff are all so amazing and make you feel at ease and the venue has all the space you need. Just the best venue ever! ( and we did look a quite a few) So if you looking for a venue in Sussex with amazing views, big space and great staff......look no further!

Absolutely incredible venue and team!
The absolute best venue. The views are stunning, the team are extraordinary, and the venue itself is just gorgeous. And the fact that the venue is a blank slate made everything so much better. We were able to have our black wedding without having to hide anything that didn’t fit our vibe.
Phil, Jaime, Jackie, Liv, Amy, and all the team went above and beyond to make our day amazing and make sure everything was perfect! From the moment we booked the venue 3 years ago, to the lead up to the day, they have been nothing but unbelievable helpful and kind. Phil and Jackie were there the whole time, making sure everything ran seamlessly all day. And Iona and Jura, the adorable Highland Cows, topped everything off, making Southlands Barn a fantastic wedding venue!

From the moment we knew Southlands barn would make our day special, the team were absolutely amazing. From how the barn is decorated to the kind and thoughtful hospitality from all the staff, we felt right at home. Our guests said it was the most magical venue and we loved the countryside vibe. We had the most perfect day and would go back to Southlands barn to do it all again if we could.

August wedding at Southlands Barn
We got married at Southlands Barn in August 2024. We found them at a wedding fair arranged to go to the Barn and when we got there immediately fell in love with it.
The setting is perfect, the barns are stunning. The staff could not be any friendlier or more helpful. They put us at ease and helped make the day run as smoothly as possible as well as making it special.

Perfect venue & amazing staff
We got married at Southlands Barn in July and we could not recommend it more! The whole weekend was hands down the best weekend of our lives and that all started with picking Southlands Barn!
From the moment we chose Southlands as our venue, the whole process was so easy and the team went above and beyond to ensure the wedding was exactly how we wished it to be. The wine tasting event was a real added bonus which made us feel even more excited for the big day and was a wonderful chance to show our friends and family the venue.
The entire team made everything run like clockwork on the day yet also somehow made it feel casual and completely stress free for us both from start to finish. They thought of little touches and details which hadn't even crossed our mind.
We particularly loved sharing a boogie with some of the staff on the dance floor at the end of the night! So many guests have commented on how wonderful the venue and staff were and we couldn't agree more.
The morning after the wedding the staff put on a lovely breakfast for some of our guests which was the perfect way to debrief on the night before and was such a fun addition to the whole weekend.
To Jackie, Phil, Amy, Jamie, Liv, Harvey, Trevor and Patrick - thank you to you all for making our wedding better than we could ever have hoped for!
