What a wonderful day!

Hi Rob,

I just wanted to write and say a very big thank you to you and your team who were so helpful through our special day. It really was a beautiful setting and everyone loved it, but for me, it was you guys who helped make the day memorable.

From the patience the staff demonstrated in helping us and answering the myriad questions during set up (and the beer the barman got me just before my speech even though the bar was technically closed👍🏻😀) to the help, guidance and friendliness you showed throughout the day, it all made such a big difference to L and S, and also me and the rest of the family. It does make a real change these days to have genuine customer service!

Finally, thank you again for your help when I needed to get a replacement taxi for my father and mother in law which definitely eased a stressful moment!

Well done to everyone and thanks again. I cannot recommend you and your staff highly enough!

Kind regards

Butler wedding

My son and daughter -in-law married here on Wednesday. The venue is beautiful. The main house is full of character, charm and history. The orangery where the wedding took place was intimate and all those present had a good view of the service. The main room where the reception was held is large and their were plenty of staff who attended to the tables. The food was excellent and was efficiently served. the room leader ( sorry I cant recall your name ) was attentive and professional throughout the whole event even when we had to make some last minute changes.
e stayed overnight and had a spacious room which was beautifully presented. The morning breakfast was European in style and was nice but no hot food.
The whole day went very smoothly and wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who worked hard to deliver a perfect day for the happy couple.

Absolute Perfection

Absolute perfection from the grounds and buildings, to food and drink, to all their staff! They were just incredible, they think of everything and know how to run a flawless day to ensure that everyone is enjoying the day. All our guests as well as us (the bride and groom) were blown away. We’ve experienced people do the “do it yourself” type weddings and they always seemed stressful, manic and to take away what the day is really about. Going with Syrencot was such a significant and important decision and it was 100% the right and best decision, taking away so much of the stress that comes with organizing such a big day. We must give a special mention to Charlotte who coordinated the day so well! From a groom perspective (as writing this too) she slotted into team bride so well and we both really got a sense that she was there to make our day the best possible. We fell in love with the venue at first look and cannot of imagined getting married anywhere else! Thank you Syrencot team!!

Disappointing Dream Day

Choosing Syrencot for our wedding felt perfect at first. The pictures were stunning, and the initial contact was promising. However, our dream day turned into a stressful mess, thanks to a combination of poor food quality, a meager breakfast spread, and utterly disorganized planning.

Food Fumbles: The reception meal was a major letdown. Small portions, lacked flavor and not what we ordered. Guests politely nibbled, but many left plates unfinished. We were incredibly disappointed, especially considering the premium placed on the catering service.

Breakfast Blues: The after-wedding breakfast was equally underwhelming. A meager selection of stale pastries and lukewarm coffee did little to rejuvenate our weary guests. For the price point, we expected a more substantial and fresher offering.

Planning Paralysis: This disorganization caused unnecessary stress in the lead-up to the wedding and left us scrambling to confirm arrangements last minute.

A Word to the Wise: While the venue itself may be picturesque, the lackluster food, paltry breakfast, and disorganized planning overshadowed any positive aspects

Outstanding, unbelievable, incredible!!!

There are not enough words to describe how phenomenal our experience has been with Syrencot. Right from the moment of booking to the final minute of our wedding, everything was utterly incredible. We had so many compliments from our guests about the venue, the staff, the food, the quality and attention to detail. I would 100% recommend this venue to everyone and anyone and I would absolutely do the whole experience again in a heartbeat!

Simply terrible, there's no other word for it.

I attended a wedding at Syrencot House last week. I thought it would also be a good excuse to test the venue for our planned wedding without the effort of a separate trip. It’s safe to say that Syrencot is off our list.

Firstly, the weather was terrible. This is a risk with any wedding in March, and of course, the venue cannot be held accountable for it. However, how they allow the weather to impact the comfort of their guests is most definitely within their control. And there’s no excuse for the comedy of errors that I experienced as a plus-one guest.

Upon arrival the rain was lashing down and the ground was soaking. The gravel car park had a giant lake in the middle of it, and these puddles were repeated all the way to the venue itself. Ladies in high heels were noticeably uncomfortable as it was simply not possible to avoid all the puddles.

Having arrived, soaked, we were dismayed to find that ‘the barn’ was freezing. The fire wasn’t lit, the heating wasn’t on. What’s worse is that the heating was never turned on, and the fire in the bar area was only lit after five PM and kept very small. This stingy attitude towards a few quid on the heating bill was a warning of what was to follow.

The bar drinks were extortionate (£4.50 for a small bottle of Coors 0%) and served by a teenage ‘barman’ who didn’t know the difference between light and dark rum. Thank God nobody ordered any cocktails (that I saw at least). No cash accepted, cards only.

After a few drinks and a single canape each it was off to ‘the glasshouse’, where, yet again, the heating wasn’t turned on. Thankfully the ceremony was a short one, and we duly formed a line and threw the confetti before being led around to the front of Syrencot House for the photos. Here the puddles caused yet more discomfort, as the party had to walk through one to get to the front of the house! The management must see these puddles every time it rains, there is simply no excuse for them. After an abortive photo session, the rain got the better of us and we were ushered to ‘the veranda’ for the photos. Imagine that you have paid for an expensive day at a posh country house. How do you feel about your main wedding photo looking like it was taken at the entrance to the food court at Marwell Zoo? Yup, that’s about the sum of it.

And so it was back inside with lunch scheduled for 15:00. Calamity ensued as there were insufficient places set at our table, and our names despite being on the main table plan in bar area were not replicated at the table. We waited off to one side for twenty five minutes whilst the staff sorted out space (just) at another table. The didn’t sort out the champagne though, so we were left raising an empty glass for toasts- thankfully I wasn’t drinking anyway.

Speeches ensued whilst the rain lashed down. At the end of the grooms speech, with perfect timing, the lights cut out. I waited with baited breath for something. But no, it was just a power cut. Now, powercuts can happen. But the lack of a backup generator is inexcusable. A power cut at a wedding venue has the potential to absolutely ruin a couples big day. The first few cuts lasted for a few minutes each, and presumably threw the kitchen into disarray as lunch wasn’t served until gone five. The last, much longer power cut was during the DJ set, and totally killed the vibe. All could (should?) have been prevented by the presence of a backup generator, at a dedicated wedding venue.

Lunch finally arrived- very, very slowly. Syrencot presumably advertise ‘silver service’. Well if you’re going to do silver service, do it right. Having a bunch of clueless teenagers led by one long suffering old hand is a recipe for disaster. Lunch would have been a much better experience if they’d just use both hands and got stuff out before it got cold. They were terribly trained, and I felt so sorry from them. They knew they had to serve from one side and take from the other, they just didn’t know which! They were clearly terrified of making a mistake, and their every move was jumpy.

The starter soup was reasonable- however the part-baked bread hadn’t been baked properly. The main was just awful- a solitary tough chicken leg on top of some lukewarm mash, and the smallest portion sizes you’ve ever seen, with barely cooked vegetables. The kids meals even worse- the kids burger was a quarter of an inch thick, on a plain roll with nothing else bar some chips and carrot sticks. They’d have got a better meal at a council daycare facility. But that’s not all. Oh no. The bride had ordered a burger. Someone saw fit to send out a kids meal, via silver service, to the bride at the top table on her wedding day. You couldn’t make it up. And when a replacement adults meal was sent out to her instead, it was cold. Let that sink in. They couldn’t even serve the bride a decent meal on her wedding day.

Dessert was nice- but it was the bride’s wedding cake, and apparently Syrencot wanted to charge her extra for doing that. They could at least have served it well- my slice was literally half the size of my neighbours. Even the kids on my table got a larger portion!

Every single bit of my experience at Syrencot felt as if the management ethos is ‘Who gives a crap? it’s a wedding- just treble the price’ The service and quality of food would be terrible at a village pub- for a wedding venue it’s just insulting.

Phenomenal Venue

Syrencot will forever hold a place in my heart. If you want a venue that is stunning, has a great atmosphere and staff that are amazing then you NEED to book Syrencot.

Our day was incredible, we truly couldn’t have asked for a better day. From the process of booking to the actual day we had as much support as we wanted from the staff and managed to view the venue 3 times to make sure everything was as we wished.

The food was genuinely amazing- we did the midweek package which is perfect for smaller weddings like ours. The venue was amazing with dealing with any allergies our guests had.

Even when a little hiccup happened on the day (because let’s face it these things happen!) all we had to do was have a quiet word with our wedding coordiantor on the day and within mere seconds a solution was thought of and all was good again. That is a sign of a great venue.

And to the end the evening perfectly, we stayed in the beautiful Syrencot house and had the best continental breakfast the next day with our closest friends and family. Waking up to freshly baked bread in the morning is just what you need after a night of partying!

Very attractive wedding venue

This is an attractive and private venue for a wedding. The grounds are very attractive and wonderful for photos.
As guests we were made very welcome and really enjoyed our meal that took into account my Lactose Allergy.
The service was very good and attentive.
There was space for dancing and music entertainment.
There was also an outside seating area to use.
We really enjoyed being at our friends wedding here.

Disgusted at what we received!

Do not be fooled by the stunning setting that is syrencot.

I’ve worked in hospitality for the last 13 years and I’ve never come across such rude and obnoxious staff like syrencots.

Firstly the general manager Katie promised us many things that was then changed nearer to the date, they’ll make it sound like you can have anything you want because you’re paying for it, UNTIL THEY GET YOUR MONEY, then everything changes and the typical ‘I wouldn’t of agreed that’ comments come out.

They lost a whole table worth of decorations and favours which had to be picked up by my wife and I after the ceremony, not once was this picked up by a member of staff. To then be told it was the bridesmaids fault that it went missing.

Cat is another member of staff there that actually made my wife cry at the end of the night, she is rude, quite aggressive and genuinely really poor at organisation.

There was an altercation regarding the microphone that because the food service was so slow we were running over our evening reception, so when I went to ask Cat for the microphone so we could start the speeches, she grabbed the microphone and pulled it away from me and said “NO, WE’RE GETTING RECEPTION DRINKS OUT” this wouldn’t of impacted at all as I knew the first speech was going to take a while. My wife then was livid at this point so went and took the microphone, this wasn’t Cats place to dictate when we done our speeches, she then shouted at my wife as she walked back to the top table quite aggressively.

This led to a complaint being made to the ops manager Matthew Wilson, who believe me is one of the most arrogant men I’ve ever come across. He out right called my wife and I a liar and said these recollection of events didn’t happen. I shall be posting the email on my social media’s to show how disgusting this man has dealt with the whole situation.

Not at one point in the whole day did any member of staff come and communicate with my wife and I about the first dance/ cake cut/ evening food let alone ask how our day was going or if they could assist in anyway.

Cat also made the DJ cut the music off MID SONG at 11:30 on the dot when we were told by Katie that everything would finish at midnight. Our guests were left confused and this is when Cat spoke extremely rudely to my wife which in turn caused her to finish her wedding night in tears.

As you can see from their brochure the prices are far from cheap. However I’ve actually had a better service at a travelodge breakfast bar. Regardless of this, credit to the chefs as the food was great.

Following up from our wedding we felt it was justified we were due a partial refund on the loss of our evening entertainment and the lack of service we received on the day, however Matthew Wilson saw it fit to offer us a ‘good will hamper’ because of ‘how we felt’ with not an apology in sight… absolutely appalling. We’d had many problems up to our wedding day with members of syrencot staff. We were reassured by Matthew that our day would run smoothly. It didn’t.

Overall we’re so disappointed with how the venue has tainted which should be one of the best days of our life. We have to live with these memories now, so if we can warn any future brides and grooms about their horrendous lack of customer care then I feel justice will be done.

Avoid at all costs, take your hard earned money elsewhere!

Avoid! - incredibly poor service

Up until the point of taking our money they were great, however everything after this has been disappointing and incredibly poor service

Pre- Wedding
- Slow responses with over 2 week time delays, when we complained they said “they were busy doing weddings”
- When responses were received they were rude and blunt
- We were told during uncertain times that we were not a priority as other weddings were before us, this continued up to a month before the wedding.

On the day
- The Venue lost a whole box of our table favours and decorations. Which they left incomplete until we identified to them.
- The service was incredibly slow pushing our whole day back over an hour and half meaning we lost evening entertainment time. We tried to speed the speeches along which should of happened over the desserts however the venue refused on several occasions to give the groom the microphone for the speeches, this resulted in me (bride) having to grab the mic from the bar and having the manager of venue shout at me in front of my guests
- They completely disregarded our planning sheet they asked us to complete
- At the end of the night they turned our DJ off mid song, half an hour earlier than they had agreed. When questioning them on this they resulted in getting defensive and again rude.
- The whole day was completely disorganised and resulted in me in tears due to the rudeness of staff and areas of let down.

Yes the venue is beautiful and food was great, but for the amount you pay and the service and stress you will get I would recommend avoiding.
