Tawstock Court is a historic country house wedding venue in Barnstaple, Devon, nestled among acres of rolling hills and lush natural settings. Home to the Peryer family since 2012, the property now offers couples exclusive use of the grounds for celebrating their love. Tawstock Court is Georgian country house situated on 32 acres of ancient woodlands and surrounded by the beautiful North Devon countryside. Facilities and Capacity

We offer beautiful outdoor and indoor ceremony spaces – perfect for any time of year. The Panelled Hall (Max. 90 people) with its two carved wooden pillars and stunning fireplace provides the perfect indoor space to say your vows. If you prefer an outdoor ceremony, the 16th century Elizabethan Gatehouse with its original wooden doors, or in front of the fountain on the Balustrade with an amazing view across the valley to Codden Hill are both popular choices to say ‘I Do’. We have also recently built the ‘Lookout’ for a ceremony surrounded by trees and overlooking the countryside.If you wish to have a church wedding, St. Peter’s Church is situated only a 2 minute walk away at the bottom of the garden.

Once you have tied the knot, it’s time to celebrate! You and your guests can mingle outside by the fountain or indoors in the front rooms and lounges whilst enjoying welcome drinks and canapes. The Lantern Staircase, Courtyard and outdoor spaces along with the ancient woodlands offer numerous photo opportunities.

The Gatsby inspired Clutterbuck Bar serving Cocktails and Gin is a welcome addition to add some flare to your day and St Michael’s Lounge, dedicated to the memory of the school, is great for when your guests fancy a game of pool or chess.The Main Bar, once the Victorian kitchen with its flagstone floor, is a modern yet vintage style space complete with a carefully selected gin list, lager, ales, cider, spirits and soft drinks, everything you could need for a great celebration.

Finally, The Old Refectory (max. 108 people), has been transformed into an elegant function room to host your wedding breakfast. It has a stunning Parquet floor and reclaimed wood feature wall, twinkle lights and, in the evening, sets the stage for a band or disco.

We have developed our Courtyard into a stunning space perfect for your evening celebrations with ambience lighting, plenty of tables and seating underneath a canopy of twinkle lights, a decking area and swinging chairs. Our new Woodfired Stone-baked Pizza Oven is also in the courtyard!

Cuisine

Tawstock Court wants each couple to have flexibility in their catering requirements and invites you to choose external caterers from our selected recommended local suppliers or we also offer packages with catering included. Whether you envision elegant canapes and a la carte dining or a food van or hog roasts, you'll be able to bring your vision to life.

Services Offered

After a beautiful evening, you, your new spouse, and up to 48 guests can rest easy within the venue's four dwellings next to the main house. The Honeymoon Suite is complete with a designated get-ready area, chandeliers and plenty of space for you to prepare on your wedding morning. Before departing the next day, you can finish your wedding weekend with a delicious full English breakfast before you say your goodbyes. The events team at Tawstock Court welcome both intimate and grand events and offers carefully curated packages for a variety of needs and budgets. For the experience of a lifetime, you're welcome to plan a spectacular fireworks display send-off.
