Temple Island is a riverside wedding venue located in Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire. This unique destination is situated just a mile and a half downstream from the charming market town of Henley. To reach it, you’ll need to arrive on the island by boat, of which there are various styles and sizes to suit you. Whatever you decide, the journey to your romantic waterside destination will surely be an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

Facilities and Capacity

The Temple can accommodate up to 40 guests for a formal wedding breakfast or candlelit dinner. If you decide to add the elegant marquee, you can have up to 120 guests for a fantastic celebration flowing out onto the surrounding lawns.

I want to write to thank you for all of your help, support and advice with organising the recent party on Temple Island. Temple Island was simply the perfect and most delightful setting for the party and especially meaningful to the many rowers in attendance. In addition to this both Meridian Marquees and Elegant Cuisine were first class suppliers. In short, the party was truly amazing and will be long remembered by all - Temple Island is not only unique but also a very special venue.

We had a fabulous day but having our reception on Temple Island really made the wedding. The day went without any hitches and the Island looked particularly stunning in the glorious sunshine last Saturday. Our families and guests were amazed by the location and everybody we have spoken to so far have voted the wedding as the best wedding they have ever been to.

When we first saw Temple Island on a cold and grey winter's morning many months before our wedding, we were completely charmed. From the elegance of the temple building's interior decor, to the dramatic mist that rises from the river at dusk, Temple Island is a unique and magical setting for a reception. Katrina at HRR was extremely helpful throughout our preparations and the fact that she had such well-established relations with our suppliers meant that we could rest assured that everything would run extremely smoothly.
