Infinite magic!
If you are short on time, let me summarize for you -- A wedding here will exceed your wildest dreams! If you have a few minutes, please read on and know that there are still not adequate words to do this exquisite location and incredible staff justice.
People often ask us what led us to Tenuta dei Mori and the only thing I can surmise is that it was some sort of divine direction. David and I were searching for venues on Google Maps and as though a magic compass was guiding us, we landed on this piece of heaven on earth. After reading multiple five-star reviews, I submitted an inquiry, and upon receiving Andrea’s warm and thorough reply, I knew all other potential venues had some major competition. Funny enough, Tenuta dei Mori was the first venue we visited and it was next to impossible not to sign a contract on the spot (fun fact: As we closed the car doors on our way out, David made us take a breath as a reminder that we had other places to visit. Immediately after this statement, his mouth turned up in a huge grin and he said, “But I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE!”). This is how perfect the experience was! Andrea welcomed us like we were old friends and the overall sense of family and hospitality touches every aspect of the property. Aside from hospitality, the professionalism is unparalleled. The staff at Tenuta dei Mori and their trusted suppliers bring years of experience to the table, and beyond that, they are excellent communicators, honest, and dedicated to executing a showstopping event. Andrea’s attention to detail and his commitment to quality ensures a smooth planning process. Even amidst last minute changes and potential obstacles, Andrea provides a sense of calm and multiple solutions. He’s a Plan A, B and C person so we felt that no matter what surprises we encountered, we’d be guaranteed an extraordinary weekend. He’s as meticulous as they come and a world-class manager, but the only thing bigger than his smile is his heart.
Now let’s talk location: with each step around this magnificent property, you will see perfectly manicured grounds and one photogenic spot after another. Our photographers and videographers had a field day scouting locations and our guests had no shortage of idyllic photo op locations. The apartments, the pool, the olive grove, panoramic room, and vineyard -- they are all maintained to standards that would rival a Four Seasons. You will find all modern comforts in the apartments, but not at the sacrifice of tradition and rustic charm. We’ve all seen gorgeous vacation spots and impressive wedding venues, sure, but Tenuta dei Mori offers so much more than that -- there is a soul and a heartbeat here that makes it very much a home away from home. The special touches throughout the property are a constant reminder of the passion and heartfelt effort that went into each step of its construction. And if you have the pleasure to meet the owner, Piero, and his family, you instantly discern the earnest love of family and heritage that has been poured into Tenuta’s foundation.
When it comes to planning the event, we were delighted to find everything was entirely bespoke. Indeed, there are innumerable wedding factories scattered across the countryside, especially in neighboring Tuscany, where you can select from an array of predetermined packages. The experience at Tenuta dei Mori, however, was personalized and collaborative, enhanced by Andrea’s expert guidance and creativity. He’ll be the first to tell you he isn’t a wedding planner, but he has amassed a list of phenomenal suppliers and when we suggested an idea or requested something not previously done, he embraced it and endeavored to help us realize our vision. He facilitated meetings with the vendors and helped us organize the tasting (Apollinare Catering is outstanding, FYI). When we began to consider a Catholic ceremony, it was just moments later that we took a visit to the neighboring church. Many of our peers have remarked at the stress and headache of wedding prep, and David and I feel extremely thankful (and only verrrrry slightly guilty) that we do not share that sentiment. Ours was a fun, exciting and creative process that also granted us the privilege of forging new friendships with all of the amazing people we met along the way.
Come the wedding weekend, we and our guests were blown away. There are few words to describe the joy we felt seeing our friends and family fall in love with Tenuta dei Mori the same way we had a year prior. What was particularly enjoyable, too, was having two separate nights with wholly different themes and locations. During the welcome party, for example, guests never stepped foot in the vineyard nor saw the panoramic room, thus the wedding dinner and reception still held the newness and surprise of a property not yet fully discovered. The wedding itself transported guests from the church to the pool to the vineyard to the terrace and panoramic room -- dynamic movement that ensured the party never felt stagnant, but also smooth transitions that felt seamless and perfectly integrated (thanks, of course, to Andrea and another Tenuta dei Mori superstar, Elisa). The cocktail hour was bountiful and dinner was noted to be “one of the best meals in Italy ever.” No joke, this is a direct quotation. Tenuta dei Mori produces delicious wines -- not only did we gift a bottle as the wedding favor, a family member actually returned to the States and promptly ordered another case. The food, the flowers, the DJ, the barman, the fireworks, and the list goes on -- each and every facet of the wedding was beyond what we’d imagined. I am still not entirely convinced that the staff didn’t make a special phone call to the weather gods to deliver such a perfect sunset and ideal temperatures. The elation and exuberance is palpable in every photo and video clip. Our friends and family have continued relaying all of their favorite moments, affirming it was a one-in-a-million weekend. They also thanked us on multiple occasions for introducing them to Perugia, a city they may not have otherwise thought to include on their itineraries. It brings big, fat happy tears to my face to relive all the exceptional moments (which is way better than the big, fat ugly tears I shed when we had to drive away and bid farewell to our piece of paradise). We are already planning to celebrate our anniversary and hopefully many more momentous occasions at Tenuta dei Mori in years to come. It is easily one of our favorite places on the planet and certain to be one of yours, as well.
