About

The Barn at Westhay is a beautiful relaxed wedding venue located near Axminster, Devon.

An unspoiled backdrop to your special day, our beautiful listed barn sits within an enclosed farmyard on our 140 acre working family farm. Within the barn are a number of spaces to suit a range of party sizes, and our relaxed and open-minded approach means you're able to make the space truly yours. We also have stylish adjoining accommodation, which is included in the pricing (2025 onwards). We are nature-minded farm with a great appreciation for wildlife and the history behind our location, you'll even see swallows nesting in the barn and can take a stroll around the fields where ancient oak trees provide shade and shelter to many species.

Our barn is just 12 minutes drive from Axminster Station with a direct train to Central London, and and we are a 15 minute drive from the beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis.

We operate on a dry hire basis, don't charge corkage and are happy to help as little or as much as you would like. Within the hire cost are many added extras to make your day easier and more memorable.

Best wedding ever!

The Barn at Westhay was perfect for our rustic country wedding.

A very pretty, low ceilinged, barn with plenty of character enhanced by being well lit including twinkling fairy lights which gave it a magical intimate look. This beautiful blank canvas allows you to design your own space.

Zoe is really great with lots of tips and nothing was ever too much trouble. A dedicated wedding venue makes it much more accessible and being given several days was a real bonus. So many venues give a very small access time to set up and take down. We didn’t feel pressurised in any way and suppliers were able to pick up after the weekend. Many places want everything removed on the night so we loved this much more relaxed approach.

We decorated the space ourselves and everyone said how the whole day was joyous, filled with love and the best wedding ever!

If you are sick of trailing round venues all offering the same look and would prefer to design your own then this is the place for you.

We had the perfect day and wouldn’t have wanted our reception anywhere else.

Wonderful Westhay - can we do it all again please?!

We have just finished our wedding weekend, using Westhay for our afternoon/evening reception, and it was absolutely wonderful. My partner and I initially met Zoe over a year ago, had a good look around the premises, and Zoe was very clear in detailing what was included, how the ‘hire’ would work, and was open and accommodating with our requests.

Zoe stayed in regular contact with both us, and Katie, our wedding planner/stylist, and worked closely with Katie in the days before the event and on the day itself, to ensure our wedding went smoothly and that we were happy. Zoe’s warm, friendly and approachable demeanor meant we never felt a ‘bother’, or that we couldn’t ask questions in the run up to the day.

Although the venue itself is very rustic, this was exactly the blank canvas we wanted to imprint our stylists ideas onto, and there were no issues from any of our suppliers in accessing the venue, getting set up, or running services.

We can’t recommend Westhay enough, and are just sad we can’t do it all over again!
