The BlackFriars pub has risen from the ashes, and lovingly restored bigger and better than ever before. With capacity for over 250 revellers, we’re on a pilgrimage to bring together friends, loved ones and strangers alike to break bread and share a drink. Built in 1886, The Black Friar was resurrected in 2021 after lying derelict for over 15 years. Lovingly restored, the Pub is a true harmony of old and new. We like to think it’s somewhere everyone feels at home.

We can accommodate weddings of all size, from smaller more intimate meals to parties of up to 250 guests. All our menus are seasonal, so we'll work with you closer to the date to help curate a menu that suits what you are looking for. The Black Friar is home to six individual spaces which can be hired out individually as well as together. The Pub, Restaurant, Glass Room and Tavern are all located on the ground floor and the Sanctuary and Choir's Loft are on the upper levels. These spaces can seat the following number of guests:

• Pub - 30px
• Restaurant - 50px
• Glass Room - 30px (this is an extension of the restaurant so can seat 80px across these spaces)
• Tavern - 50px
• Sanctuary - 24px
• Choir's Loft - 16px

For larger seated meals we can accommodate up to 160 guests across the entire ground floor - Pub, Restaurant, Glass Room and Tavern. Alternatively, if you're happy to take both upper floors as well we can accommodate 200 guests if you are happy to take over the upper floors. For grazing/canapé style events we can accommodate up to 250px if you take over all floors.

There are lots of benefits to having your wedding at The Black Friar including minimal need to dress the place or spend on florals, meaning more of your money can go towards the important things like food and drink! We are also offering restaurant standard service and quality from staff who do the job day in, day out.
