The Grand Hall is a historic wedding venue in Bedford, Bedfordshire. Featuring a distinctive Tudor-style red brick exterior, our beautiful event facility offers an abundance of vintage charm and classic appeal. It is licensed for civil ceremonies and can also accommodate evening receptions, making it a favourable location for intimate weddings.

Facilities and Capacity

Weddings of up to 150 people can be hosted at The Grand Hall, with several event spaces available. Couples can say 'I do' in our main hall, surrounded by elevated ceilings with stunning Victorian facades. A 19th-century piano creates an attractive focal point in this room and is also available for musicians to use. After exchanging their vows, couples can join their guests for an evening of dining and dancing. Alternatively, the Boardroom is available for micro weddings of 24 guests or less. This private room is ideally suited for small gatherings and may also be used as a ceremony space.

Services Offered

At The Grand Hall, we are happy to offer couples exclusive use of our venue at weekends and during school holidays. Our staff can provide several event packages covering function spaces, backdrops, and linens. At our premises, we have a license to serve alcohol, and we permit private catering companies. We also partner with Kingfisher Catering, an experienced and reliable food business in the locality. Music packages are available on request for anyone who wants to use our piano or showpiece organ for their celebration. The venue also provides car parking spaces and disabled facilities.

A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE…if you’re thinking of hiring please read the below first!

We hired the venue to celebrate a recent function. We paid for extra hours to prepare the venue being told that the place would be set up. When we arrived, one person was available to set up all the table and chairs and said it would take them two hours to do so, so your two free hours included in the hire fee did not count for anything and was not accountable. The lack of communication is an understatement with the event staff come and go so you’re not sure who you are dealing with!!! Catering needs to be cooked outside as there are no kitchen facilities on the premises, it is a complete joke and they should not even be allowed to hire this venue out for weddings or functions as advertised on their website. it was a bad bad experience!! The main issue we had was with the staff. Lack and incorrect information was given from the start which carried through right till the end. They weren’t very accommodating or flexible at all and did not deliver the quality of service we paid for as it is not cheap to hire. The staff said they had fixed the light that was outside near the blue doors, when we arrived on the day it wasn’t fixed and the maintenance manager told us there was an issue and could not be fixed in time for the event. The staff were constantly on our backs when we were setting up the hall to the extent our external caterers and other suppliers were feeling bombarded with loads of questions and constant interrogations about the event. There also wasn’t any kitchen washing facilities for our caterers to use and the staff were really unhelpful in finding solutions for us and the caterers at the premises despite us being told several times prior to booking that the venue was equipped with the right facilities. Also the event manager did not turn up to an important site visit where we had loads of questions from our caterers and they did not even let us know they were attending. All in all an appalling experience and we would definitely not recommend hiring this venue for your event.

Wedding reception

We hired the hall for our wedding reception. What an amazing hall. Everyone remarked how lovely it was. We was left to set up however we wanted, which was perfect for us. Highly recommended for your event
