From the moment we got engaged, there was only one venue we looked at and went to view for our special day, and that was The Normans. From the initial contact with Sharon, to the food tasting, to then finally having our wedding day, as a venue, The Normans just blew everything out the park. It was just how we imagined it would be and every space was made to feel personal to us. A huge thank you to Sharon and Dave who on the day before, the day of and day the after the wedding went above and beyond to ensure we were happy throughout. We couldn’t recommend them enough to anyone else looking for a venue in Yorkshire to have their wedding. They have helped us create memories for life, and we are already jealous of those who have the venue booked for their special day. Thanks again to Sharon, Dave and Oliver.

Now putting my bridal hat back on and thinking about what I would want to read in a review here we go:

The Normans was the first venue we viewed when looking for our wedding and nothing else compared! We knew from the first visit it was the one for us.

From the start we had excellent email communication organising a viewing and we were shown round by the amazing Oliver who answered all of our questions and made us feel so secure in booking his venue, he was very warm, welcoming, he made us feel looked after and like no question was too silly and that continued throughout our experience!

The joy of The Normans is everybody cares so much. Oliver, Sharon, and Dave are a dream team! Emails always answered quickly, extra visits easily organised, phone numbers given to us the day before incase of emergency, texts after the big day to make sure we had an amazing time! The level of care they provide for you is unbelievable everything is checked, double checked, and the day flowed so easily with Sharon coordinating!

We loved the venue as it was stunning as is and it's comfy country vibes whilst remaining modern was just the style we wanted. We could have left it completely empty and it would have looked amazing, but we decided to decorate and do the flowers all ourselves this was supported by The Normans whole heartedly providing us with water, plenty of space to set up, Dave was amazing helping us put things on walls and helping us tidy up throughout the day.

A excellent part of The Normans is no hidden costs! Having seen other venues it's was only when you went into the fine print or asked certain questions in certain ways you saw what was actually included. At The Normans there is no sneaky oh you need to pay extra for chairs, lights, pay per candle lit ect. What you see is what you get and they are very open about any additional costs for extras. Their website is incredible for details, invoices easy to read, It was this openness and honestly that made us love them even more as it made planning and budgeting so much easier.

It is a very versatile venue with plenty of space, and if your worried about wet weather they always have a plan and will check the met office reports coming in for you! We had rain on our wedding day and it didn't affect the atmosphere or the day at all! There is plenty of space for guests around all the buildings and it's comfy, cosy, and accessible for all! The out buildings are great for photos as well and the fields and lanes around the venue lend themselves to lovely romantic shots, so it's great for lots of versatile shots!

I have probably written far too much but I cannot put into words how amazing a place this is, and the people who run it are what really makes it shine. I cannot thank The Normans team enough for making our day perfect and for making the whole day run so smoothly. It was the best most joyful and amazing day of our lives and they helped make it happen!

An amazing day from start to finish at such a magical venue. We have had so many compliments from guests on the venue and the food from H&A and have commented on how it has been one of the best weddings they’ve been to.

Sharon who ran the day was simply amazing and neither myself or my husband had to worry about a thing. She is so lovely and approachable, she felt like part of the family!

All the staff at The Normans were incredible. Simply couldn’t fault any of it.

We fell in love with The Normans, the moment we walked through the door! It is the most glorious venue we have ever seen. Our wedding was everything we wanted and more, and what can I say about the fairylights, just wow!

The team at the Normans are amazing. First, there was Oliver, who kept us on track and made sure we had done everything we needed for our big day. Then we had Sharon, who is just lovely, she made us laugh, kept my nerves at bay and she made sure everyone was in the right place at the right time, so I didn't have to worry. Last but not least Dave, Dave is just a machine, working all hours to make sure our day was perfect. The team really care and put 110% into everything they do. Thanks to you all ❤️

The Normans is the most incredible wedding venue and our wedding day there was absolutely magical. Sharon, Oliver and the team were so friendly and ensured our day was perfect! The venue really is beautiful, especially the ceremony barn filled with candles and fairly lights - getting married here was an amazing experience. If you are considering booking this venue I really would say just do it!

Well what can I say apart from wow!!! Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. Could not recommend enough, if you want a stunning barn/rustic wedding with exceptional service (and you love a dance on a bar) The Norman’s is the venue!! Thank you so so much again.

I don't know how I could possibly do The Normans justice in one review but I will do my best.

From start to finish the team at The Normans have been a total dream to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble and every single person is there to make sure you have the best time possible. They take all the stress out of it and make sure you get to just enjoy the day.

The venue itself is stunning. You can add as much or as little as you want but it speaks for itself. Those twinkly lights make for the most beautiful photographs and it is surrounded by beautiful open spaces so the pictures outside are just as gorgeous.

The bar is VERY well stocked (essential for a crowd like ours) and the service was really quick!

The food on the day was 10/10 as expected! My (new) husband is the head chef of the Hog and Apple who cater at The Normans, so we obviously knew we were in good hands there! Tony gets to work in so many gorgeous venues and after years of visiting them we both knew that for our own wedding it could only be The Normans! You need to visit this venue and then you’ll get it, I think the word most used to describe this venue by our guests was “magical” and we couldn’t agree more. It’s a truly special place.

I would also really recommend booking the on site accommodation. I stayed in the cottage with my mam and bridesmaid's the night before and getting ready there made the whole morning feel special. There’s a beautiful dressing room area with space for your hair and makeup team. Every tiny detail has been thought of. It’s a fantastic space. It was also really great having somewhere to pop back to and refresh mid way through the day. Then at the end of the night we just needed to pop next door and kick our shoes off. Ideal.

We couldn’t have had a more fun day! Thank you so much to Oliver and everyone at the Normans for making our day so “magical”.

We got married at the Normans on the 5th May 2024 and it certainly was the best day of our lives! The team at the normans where exceptional; communication, support and reassurance! They made our day stress free, and I cannot thank Oliver and Sharon enough. We had so many compliments on the venue, it really was perfect! I cannot thank the normans enough

We got married at the Norman’s last week and it really was everything I dreamed of! Right from the booking process, we were made to feel special about our day. Sharon was incredible on the day from organising to fluffing my train! Everyone commented on how gorgeous the venue was and how nice all of the staff were. I’m really sad that we’ll never get our day again, I wish I could relive it. We were worried that we wouldn’t get many photos with the lovely countryside surroundings but our photographers and videographers had us in the barns and in the fields and I’m so grateful we got that choice. I highly recommend the Norman’s, we really can’t thank them enough for making our day as special as it was.

We got married at the Normans 6th April 2024 and it honestly couldn’t have been better. The communication in the run up to the wedding was brilliant, being able to go to the venue at 12 to set up the day before was also a great experience, Oliver and Sharon were able to offer amazing reassurance for any questions. Also, Dave was on hand for any practical issues too which we really appreciated. This allowed us both just to enjoy getting ready in the morning, so stress of worrying about putting signs out/placing bud vases etc. The day itself was perfect, the setting is stunning! The day ran smoothly and we just had the best day. Everything was perfect for us; thank you team Norman’s!

Got married at The Normans in November 2023. Cannot speak more highly of the staff and the venue. The venue is incredibly well thought out and the staff were superb from the initial viewing right through to the days after the wedding. Our suppliers commented on how impressed they were with the staff at The Normans, going above and beyond what they've seen at other venues.

Firstly WOW what a place to get married. If your looking for a venue with it all set in one place this is certainly the venue for you. The ceremony barn is incredible with its character and the perfect backdrop to say your I Do’s. With everything based around the central courtyard there is so many amazing spaces to move around the day. The Grain Shed where we had our wedding breakfast is the perfect space for everyone to enjoy their food and dance away the night. The bar is perfectly placed next to the dance floor that keeps your guests dancing all the way to the end of the night. The whole venue gives you the option to have as many or as little decorations as you like. We went very minimal because the venue certainly does the talking.

The Catering they have at The Normans provided by Hog and Apple is soooo good. We went with there famous wooden sharing boards and the food was delicious. We had a lot of people coming up to us saying this is some of the best wedding food they had ever had.

The bridal suit was perfect to get ready in, there was all the facilities that you needed and a beautiful room where the bride and bridemaids could get ready, with plenty of space for hair and makeup artists. Having accommodation on site made us feel so at ease knowing that everything was in one place.

Not only that the staff are incredible with everything from initial viewing all they way to your wedding day. Sharon and Oliver are always so helpful and nothing is a problem for them. They made our special day run so smoothly and we really appreciated all they did for us.

This was the only venue we went and saw and we cant think of how any other venue could top this. The perfect wedding venue!!

We would recommend The Normans to anyone wanting a rustic farm aesthetic, from the very start Oliver and the team were so helpful and responsive to our questions. On the day Oliver was on hand to guide us through the day and make sure that everything was running smoothly. We were able to access the venue the day before to get everything set up, and the day after the wedding all our decorations had been packaged up for us and left in the cow stalls to pack back into the cars - super easy! The venue itself is stunning and doesn't need much in the way of decoration, but it's also easy to put your own stamp on the place. We stayed in the on-site cottages the night before the wedding, which were really handy with the bridal cottage having a purpose built dressing room with plenty of mirrors, natural light and plug sockets! The other cottage was a perfect base for the groom to get ready with the best man and his family too and made it super easy when the registrar came to speak to us before the ceremony. Highly recommend The Normans, wish we could do it all over again!

The Normans is a beautiful wedding venue and it was hard to beat in comparison to other venues around North Yorkshire! Oliver, Sharon and the team at The Normans were amazing and so helpful to us leading up to the wedding and on the day! We wish you the best of everything in the future and we hope to visit again to enjoy it as guests!

If you gave me all the money in the world I would still choose The Normans, perfect from start to finish. Purely amazing, from the second we met Oliver and his team to the second we left the day after the wedding it was fantastic.
