Where old London meets new beginnings...

The Old Timber Store is a historic railway arch in Bermondsey's best-kept secret: Maltby Street Market. The cobbles of the ropewalk are host to weekly street food fusions from all over this wonderful world. Still, this dedicated arch for wedding ceremonies and private events is like stepping into 19th-century London, a true hidden gem.

The venue itself has been on a bit of a journey:

The story of The Old Timber Store began back in the 1800s when horse and carriage would trot through the railway arches, a construction wonder of the world at the time.

Since the 1990s, the magnificent brick viaducts have hosted LASSCO's flooring yard. A sensitive renovation to keep the essence of the space alive has now transformed the arch into a unique space to host intimate wedding ceremonies.

The Old Timber Store can now be hired exclusively for ceremonies.

Beautiful, rustic gem in the middle of London

The venue, the service, the food/drinks, and especially Sonya (the manager, wedding planner, server, and cocktail master) were absolutely amazing and made for the most perfect day, we couldn’t ask for anything more.

Sonya’s assistance with the prepping / planning and day of execution was great, I had so many compliments on how great she was too. The cocktails were amazing as well.

Highly recommend hosting your wedding at The Old Timber Store!!

Incredible day - beyond expectation

From the moment we discovered this venue, we absolutely fell in love with it. So much so that, from first walking through the doors, it probably took us about 2 hours to secure a date for just a couple of months later! We held our wedding here in May and were over the moon with how wonderful everything was. From the amazingly helpful and friendly staff, particularly the fab Sonya, to the incredible plant and flower arrangements done by Jemima (Jemima in the Woods, just a couple of doors down on the market) and the mouth-watering food cooked up by the vendors on Maltby Street, every spectacular part came together to make our day perfect. If you're looking for a relatively intimate venue in a unique and cozy setting, then this is without a doubt the place for you. With expert planning and warmth beyond compare, Sonya and the team helped us ensure that every aspect had been considered whilst still making us feel at ease and in control.
We could not have asked for better people to have made us feel more comfortable and assured that our wedding would be perfect - and it absolutely was! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone at The Old Timber Store who helped make our day so perfect!

Wonderful venue and team!

We loved working with Sonya, Ian and the team at Old Timber Store for our civil partnership party.

The venue was really flexible, open, collaborative and fun to work with - they made what could have been difficult conversations very easy, were very straightforward, and were very committed to us having the experience we wanted to have.

The venue is beautiful - lots of our guests commented on the fun, unique set-up in the market, the quality of food and drink, and the wonderful atmosphere.

The team were really generous with us, gave us lots of their time, and we had a great, stress-free, fun process and a wonderful day. We couldn't recommend them enough.

Truly Magical Experience

We were incredibly privileged to be the first wedding at Matlby Street Market. Working with Ian was such a fun and easy experience. All of our ideas and suggestions were accommodated which meant the day was incredibly personal. Nothing was off the cards and we were offered some fantastic suggestions along the way to make the day run smoothly. Our guests commented that it was the most romantic and fun wedding they had ever attended. We also worked with Jemima (Jemima in the Woods) for the flowers which were very beautiful. Our guests ate an a fun wedding breakfast from various market traders including Duck Frites, Amen Ethiopian, Bangers Bros, Bar Tozino and Bon Vino. The food was stunning and the traders a real pleasure to work with. The venue itself, a busy London street market, was truly unique; an eclectic and vibrant mix of colour and charm allowing us to have the most beautiful photography and cherished memories for a long time to come.
