“The event still stands out in our memories as a day full of love, laughter, happiness and outstanding food. Jo co-ordinated the wedding beautifully. Obviously we required amplification of all music used as well as a video link to my mother who was unable to attend. All went smoothly by the ever-calm Jo, who even managed to video the event as well! And the sparkling wine and canapés went down a treat.

The food was absolutely superb – everyone recalls the sirloin steak and the pavlova, and very little was left over at the end of the afternoon! The beautiful Portuguese wines which accompanied the meal were enjoyed by everyone.

Add to this the breathtaking view of the Cobb and Lyme Bay from the balcony of the restaurant, the deep blue of the sea and sky, and the glorious sunshine, and the result is one unforgettable day.

Our thanks go to Mark Hix and his team for their culinary imagination and skill, and to Jo and the team for fronting the event so seamlessly. They all have one element in common: attention to detail, and it showed throughout.”

A wonderful day

We had an absolutely incredible wedding day at the Oyster & Fish House! The food at our wedding was one of our big things, and we were not disappointed - it was fantastic. We had so much say in everything and no request was too much for the wonderful staff. Jo was incredible in the run up to the wedding and on the day, making sure that everything went smoothly so we didn’t have to think about anything and could just enjoy our day. The price we paid was a minimum spend, which meant everything we spent went on the food, drinks and service which were more than happy with. There were no hidden extras. There was an issue with the decking which the Oyster & Fish House had to remove, but they found an amazing alternative for us. Couldn’t recommend the venue highly enough!

Perfect venue

A year ago we celebrated our wedding at The Oyster and Fish House, and it was nothing short of spectacular! With a party of 30, every single guest was blown away by the exceptional food and drinks. People still talk about it now.

We started with fresh, perfectly shucked oysters and smoked salmon, followed by amazing mains like juicy steaks and tender orange duck. Each dish was a flavour sensation!

The drinks were just as impressive, with spicy margaritas and whiskey sours that had everyone talking. And for dessert, the restaurant set up a stunning puddings table loaded with crème brûlées, Eton mess, and cheesecake – a sweet lover’s dream come true.

The venue itself provided enough space for us to dance and celebrate, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. If you’re searching for a place that combines fantastic food, delicious cocktails, and a most wonderful sea setting, The Oyster and Fish House is the perfect choice.

Incredible, outstanding & personal

I could not praise this venue enough. From the minute of stepping in to visit to stepping out after our wedding, we were bloom away with every part. The organisation by Jo is flawless. The service by Mark, Jemma, Lowell & the team was incredible. The food was delicious & bespoke to our wedding without it ever feeling like we were asking for too much as we switched things up a little to tradition. The venue was decorated beautifully. All stress and worries were completely removed from us as everything ran so smoothly. We cannot thank TOFH enough & we would 100% recommend to any other. We couldn’t even have imagined as day to have been so beautiful. It wouldn’t have been the same without Jo & Jemma as part of our day

No Less Than Perfection

We booked The Oyster and Fish House being already familiar with the venue and location, but the 'wedding' element was an unknown. Cutting to the chase, OMG, I don't think we could have found a better venue, better food, better staff, better assistance with planning than here. It was quite simply extraordinarily exceptional. We had an idea about the day but we were provided with so many great ideas to help make it memorable. Jo and the team really could not have done any more to make us feel like this was our day. The amount of effort they went to was incredible, the room looked amazing, the room changes were seamless even with a stint on the beach with drinks and canopes. The food (feast) was amazing, delicious, perfect and plentiful but most of all, we felt as though staff were part of our celebration and we have such fond memories of the bar staff dancing whilst serving drinks making it feel like our party. If you can score 10/10 then this is a well deserved 11/10. I would do it all over again, just to experience perfection. THANK YOU !!

A Fantastic Wedding Venue

The Oyster House hosted our daughter’s reception at the end of April. From the minute we entered the restaurant and saw how beautifully and tastefully the staff had set out our wedding decorations we knew this was going to be an amazing event – and it surpassed expectations. The quality of the food – canapes and main meal was outstanding; the subtle attentiveness of the staff was so appreciated – they made the whole experience in to a magical gastronomic delight. Everybody commented how wonderful the chefs, waiting staff and of course the superb location were. Thank you so much to everyone for your professionalism and warm welcome.

They made it magical for us

We had chosen the Oyster & Fish House for our wedding long before our event in June 2021, but the pandemic had other ideas. The staff coped with three changes of date and of course changes in numbers with equanimity and patience. When our date was finally confirmed, we had already had a registry office ceremony, so had to come up with an alternative 'entertainment' for our guests. Ever ready for new ideas, Jo and her team rigged up a small outdoor theatre so that we could have speeches and our own personal vows on a small stage in full view of our 30 friends and family members. They even rigged up a link to my Mum in her nursing home so she could enjoy the ceremony too!

Mark and Jo worked out a menu with us beforehand which would fit with our budget but which would wow our guests, including plenty of Hix Fixes (a cocktail to really get the party going) and Lyme Bay Reserve sparkling wine to accompany the cuttlefish croquettes and cheese and pickled walnut canapés, all served on the terrace. The starters and main course, all served by the wonderful and highly competent team, were an extraordinary mix of oysters, smoked salmon, asparagus and mixed beets. Mains consisted of mixed fish and shellfish and the star of the show: Hannan's mighty marbled sirloin steak. It was all SUPERB. And I shall remember the Pavlova with Chocolate Mousse with Temperley Cherries till the day I die.

We will always remember our special day as filled with light, laughter and love. All our guest were absolutely stunned by the view and the restaurant décor, and we had the time of our lives. We would like to particularly commend Mark and the catering team for a highly memorable lunch and Jo and her team for accommodating all our quirky requirements and even last minute changes to the seating plan.

This is a restaurant team that works (in all senses of the word), and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They have a foolproof plan that means nothing gets overlooked, and their calm assurance means that last minute nerves are quickly smoothed away.

The Oyster & Fish House is somewhere we will revisit many times, and will recapture our very happy memories of the most special of days. Thanks to all the staff!
