About
The Royal Pavilion situated in the heart of Brighton & Hove’s Cultural Quarter, just a stone’s throw away from Brighton’s famous beach, stands majestically as the jewel in the cities crown. The Pavilion was built as King George IV’s seaside pleasure palace, when Brighton was at the heart of fashionable Regency society. This iconic building has played host to over 200 years of grand events, and your wedding could be next. The Pavilion has a rich royal history, as it was also used as a seaside residence by King William IV and later Queen Victoria.
Steeped in history and heritage it has welcomed royalty and distinguished guests for centuries past and now plays host to beautiful weddings and events. This breath-taking Regency palace offers a unique venue for civil ceremonies, partnerships and receptions. Restored to its original 1823 splendour with Indian architecture comprising of domes, towers and minarets contrasted with exotic interiors inspired by the Orient creating an unmatched romantic setting. There simply is no other venue in Britain quite like it.
Within the Royal Pavilion there are two rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, the elegant and intimate Red Drawing Room (for day & evening ceremonies accommodating up to 44) or for a ceremony that will certainly never be forgotten there’s the magnificent Music Room (available for evening ceremonies accommodating up to 90). A truly dazzling room which you enter via the Chinese-inspired Long Gallery. You’ll be mesmerised by the lotus-shaped chandeliers and striking canvasses that adorn the walls.
Once you’ve said ‘I do’, you can then make your way out into the palace’s gardens for your all-important wedding photos. One of the few fully re-instated Regency gardens in the country, with groups of flowers and flourishing evergreens that frame striking views of the palace creating a picture perfect backdrop.
For your reception, the experienced and dedicated team at the Royal Pavilion can offer you the exclusive use of one of their two exquisite reception rooms that accommodate a max of 60 for a seated reception. Both the Adelaide Rooms and the King William IV room offer the perfect setting for you to celebrate your big day surrounded by the people you love.
We also have the beautiful Kings Lawn available for day time receptions. Set on the west side of the Royal Pavilion, the Kings Lawn would once have opened out directly from George IV's apartments and overlooks a large area of the beautiful Pavilion gardens. With a large stone terrace providing some shelter from the worst of the elements, the space is very useful for drinks receptions or a light buffet. The Kings Lawn makes a wonderful addition for a reception after a wedding in our sumptuous Red Drawing Room. The space is available to book April - September. We have a max capacity of 80 with a wet weather contingency inside the Pavilion, or 150 guests with no wet weather back up. While much of the Royal Pavilion gardens are open to the public, the Kings Lawn is private area never open to visitors.
Our weddings team offer bespoke and personal service that will ensure that the setting will be wonderful, the food and wine delicious and that a warm and gracious welcome awaits you and your guests. From your first visit to your special day they are on hand to help make sure everything runs smoothly.
With variety of accommodation on our estate’s doorstep alongside, restaurants and bars, the sea, the historical lanes to shop and all that the vibrant city of Brighton & Hove has to offer.
