Freshly refurbished in 2023 and nestled in the picturesque village of Sawley, Lancashire, our country inn wedding venue boasts a beautiful riverside setting. Celebrate your love in our cosy bar and stylishly upgraded dining room, where every detail has been reimagined to enhance your experience.

Facilities and Capacity

Take in the stunning views of the River Ribble from our newly-renovated Abbey Suite and photo opportunities with the remains of Sawley Abbey. This enchanting setting is framed by picture windows that let the light flood in and boasts a rustic interior, relaxed atmosphere, and striking feature fireplaces.

With a licence for civil ceremonies, the Abbey Suite can accommodate up to 80 loved ones for the ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 120 for evening celebrations. You will find a range of services and facilities that will make your day even more special. What's more, the verdant grounds offer sweeping views of the rolling hills along the river, providing a truly romantic atmosphere for your country wedding.

A Wonderful Day

Everyone at the Spread Eagle Inn helped make our day special. Leah, the events organiser, was really helpful and responsive. She totally understood how we wanted our day to be and helped execute it perfectly. The venue is the perfect setting with Pendle Hill and the beautiful river in the background providing lovely memories and photographs. The food was absolutley delicious with good portion size - we highly recommend the lamb - thank you to the catering staff! Overall, it was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend the Spread Eagle Inn both for the ceremony and wedding breakfast. The bedrooms and breakfast were also fantastic and all our guests were happy with their experience.

Our perfect Wedding

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at the Spread Eagle Sawley for making our wedding day unforgettable. The location was stunning, every detail was perfect, and your professionalism and organisation made everything run so smoothly. Great food, great vibe, great place

We had our wedding at Spread Eagle Inn after our wedding was moved from a sister venue due to refurbishment. From start to finish Robinsons Group and Leah and the whole team at Spread Eagle were really supportive and helped make the planning and day as stress free as possible.
The amazing food, wonderful building and beautiful location all help to make our wedding a dream day.
Special mention has to go to Leah, who went above and beyond to help and advise with every little thing that went towards making our wedding such a memorable day and we're so grateful.
We will definitely be back for the gorgeous food!!!

Perfection

At a beautiful spot on the river, this gorgeous country inn was the perfect location for our wedding, in the Abbey room.
We had the services of Leah, the wedding co-ordinator, who took us through every stage of the planning, down to the last detail. She helped with all aspects and offered recommendations where needed.
We could not have done it without her!
The staff on the day endeavoured to make our day go without a hitch and we’re absolutely brilliant with our guests.
The food is exceptional, and our guests were blown away by how delicious it all was.
The 11 bedrooms are individually decorated and quite quirky which all of our guests loved!
Across the road are the ruins of Sawley Abbey which we used as a backdrop for our photos, as well as the large photo frame on the riverbank. This all made for outstanding photos!
I could not recommend The Spread Eagle highly enough, if a country wedding is what you are looking for.

Perfect wedding

Our wedding was perfect because The Spread Eagle staff provided exactly what we had envisaged. Leah, Events Manager, guided our choices along the way. Obviously, we had chosen the venue because the bedrooms and public rooms provided the atmosphere we required but the professionalism and appropriate friendliness of the staff and the quality of the wedding food were an unknown factor. They could not be faulted! We have received thank you cards from all our guests complimenting the venue and saying, " it was the warmest, most enjoyable wedding they have ever attended!"

Amazing wedding venue

We loved having our wedding at the Spread Eagle. Gorgeous venue in a beautiful setting. Leah, the wedding coordinator was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our guests loved the food and it was great that they had a choice of menu. Compared to other venues, prices were reasonable. We could not fault 1 second of the day it was fabulous.

Winter wedding

Fantastic venue for our winter wedding! Leah and the team made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.

The winter wedding package was excellent value, the food was simply outstanding.

We loved that we could have the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception in the same place especially as we don't live locally and were asking people to travel to the venue. Our guests were able to stay overnight at the venue and were all happy with their allocated rooms. Many have returned since or have recommended the Spread Eagle to friends and family, which speaks volumes.

We really can't recommend the Spread Eagle highly enough, we had a truly wonderful day, which exceeded our expectations.
