What an unforgettable weekend!
From the moment we entered thicket priory on our visit and were greeted by the wonderful Anna, we truly saw the beauty within Thicket and not just its aesthetics. Anna brought our wedding to life the moment we walked through those doors 2 years ago.
Throughout the whole process, Anna and the team were so supportive, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did - supporting us and other couples through what could have been a disastrous moment!!
Wedding planning can be extremely stressful, however, having the support of Anna and the team throughout the whole process really took those stresses away - everything was taken in their stride (and made me feel very organised!!)
The weekend itself - just WOW, as soon as we walked through those doors on Friday 10th May, we knew instantly that we could enjoy the weekend without having any worries / stresses on the day - absolutely everything was taken care of (even my wedding dress blunder!).
From start to finish, we enjoyed every second knowing we were in the capable hands of Anna, Lily and Becky - what a fabulous trio you are!
It goes without saying, Thicket Priory is the most beautiful venue we have ever seen, however it is the wonderful staff who create the magic and bring everything to life, making our dream wedding come true.

Thicket Priory is already a stunning country home venue from the country home to the acres of gardens and grounds. It’s the perfect setting to host overseas and English guests all under one roof for a weekend wedding. But what sets it apart is the level of service the amazing wedding team and staff provide from planning to wedding day.

Anna, Lil, Becca, and Maggie are an all-star wedding coordination team that were helpful, kind, and attentive to detail--all the qualities you need, especially when planning the wedding from the states. Anna and Lil were flexible in working with my husband and me via Zoom and working around our schedules for the tasting and pre-wedding shoot when we had just a small window to travel. They also helped coordinate details for our blended wedding ceremony which included aspects of a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony.

During the wedding weekend (we booked an exclusive weekend hire), the team went above and beyond to help make sure we had everything we needed for all our events and that our guests were comfortable. The wedding day can move quickly with all the timings of everything, and Becca noticed my bridesmaids hadn’t had a chance to steam my second dress yet ahead of the Wedding Breakfast. She was tiding up the room while we were in the wedding ceremony and noticed my dress wasn’t steamed yet—she went ahead and steamed it for us so it was ready to go which ended up being a life saver! At the end of the wedding night, Max brought out the full and opened bottles of wine leftover from the wedding breakfast for our guests to enjoy after the bar closed. This was a nice surprise since most venues don’t let you know about any unused/partially opened wine.

Overall, this was the wedding of our dreams in the most perfect venue. The reviews don’t exaggerate the experience and we’re happy to add to the high praise.

Our wedding at Thicket Priory was truly magical, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue for our special day. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the breath-taking beauty of the priory and the enchanting atmosphere it created. Every corner of Thicket Priory felt like it was pulled from a fairy tale, from the elegant architecture to the scenic views.
Anna and the team were amazing throughout our wedding planning process and filled us with confidence that everything would run perfectly (even if I was late getting ready in the morning!). Anna was an exceptional planner and guided us throughout the months preceding the wedding, she was always on hand to answer any questions. Anna also dealt with many of our suppliers, allowing us to not have to worry about those little details. They even arranged with my parents to sneak the dogs into the venue without us knowing so they could bring the rings down the aisle – they kept it hush!
Our guests are still taking about our amazing weekend, from always having their drinks topped up by the staff, the amazing food by Purple Chilli and the friendly staff!
We could not have had a wedding quite like it anywhere else, Thicket is once in a million venue & we thank the entire team for making our wedding day truly unforgettable!

We celebrated our wedding in July 2024 and had the most incredible day in the perfect setting.

The team at Thicket Priory (and especially Becca) were amazing and literally nothing was too much trouble. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day as perfect as possible, taking care of all sorts of logistics at a level of detail and efficiency you’d never dream to be possible. We were made to feel comfortable, welcome & valued right from our very first visit and we really felt genuine warmth and excitement for us from all of the team (definitely not the case at other venues!).

We had guests travelling from all over the country and abroad and all commented on how beautiful Thicket was - many saying they’d never seen a better wedding venue (which we obviously agree with!). A large part of why we were initially drawn to Thicket was the idea of being able to host a wedding weekend, with 70 guests staying for both the Friday and Saturday night. Our guests were all very impressed with the quality & size of their rooms, and all are finished to an amazing standard.

The team have an array of brilliant suggested suppliers who love working with them and we noticed that even those that we sourced ourselves were all very excited to get the opportunity to do a wedding at Thicket - a real compliment to both how stunning the venue is and also the amazing staff.

A month ago my wife and I had our wedding at Thicket Priory. Before discovering it we had become really disillusioned from seeing so many disappointing venues, to the point of almost giving up. Then we chanced to walk through the magical doors of Thicket.

Not only did we have the massive good fortune of getting married there, but I don't think we'd seen anything quite like it before. How does it blend so many qualities so perfectly? Its garden is like something out of a fairy wonderland combined with a Monet painting and the Secret Garden. The house itself feels like walking through the TV screen into the world of Downton Abbey. The attention to detail, and artistic and creative eye applied to everything, large and small, is staggering, from the intricacies of the fairy house, to the hidden staircases, the decor, the treasure hunt - basically everything.

And it's not hard to see how this is all possible, when you meet the incredible team of people working there under the leadership of Anna. She is a dream, as is her team. She removed all our stress, was utterly competent and lovely, and slowly and conscientiously helped us hone our perfect wedding. And it really was perfect.. We absolutely couldn't recommend Thicket Priory and its team highly enough. It's something very, very special.

I could write a whole essay about how wonderful Thicket Priory is, but in simple terms we don’t think we could have ever found a better wedding venue ❤️

Since the start of our planning with Thicket in June 2022 - 2 years before THE day - we have been met with warmth, care, love, understanding, flexibility, kindness, and so much more. Not only does Thicket Priory feel like home the second you step into its magnificent, yet cozy, interior; but the communication with staff at each stage of planning feels like getting help from a favourite family member. We have had the pleasure to initially work with Jess, and later with Anna - and both of these women are magnificent, incredible, and I’m sure yield some sort of magic which makes them superhuman.

The incredible staff and the owner Bruce are what makes Thicket that extra bit special compared to other venues. Instead of hooking us in and allowing us to simply deal with all the wedding planning, Thicket was there to point us in the right direction or catch us at any moment. They are more than a venue - they are a community that their couples can lean on. A community of Yorkshire wedding industry experts who know their wedding venue inside out and can anticipate your every question. And when things get too overwhelming? Well - they are there to help you relax, give you a hug, tell you it will all be fine, and to help you find a solution - whether thats reaching out to their contacts, helping out with catering problems, or giving you a bit more time on those final payment deadlines. They are there to rejoice in your wedding day with you, and you can really feel that from the moment you book your initial visit to the checkout on Sunday ❤️

Our wedding was beautiful and we owe a lot of that to Anna and her fairies. Throughout the weekend she was there at every step - helping with set up, instructing vendors, gathering family members, putting on bouttoniers, keeping the schedule going, and so much more. We had 150 guests and she really deserves all the praise for making sure everyone was in the correct place at the correct time! Anna is a wonder and, for us, the heart of Thicket Priory.

To sum it up, Thicket Priory was one of the best wedding decisions we made. We can’t recommend it enough!

Unbelievable venue and staff. Stunning grounds, stunning building, beautiful people. And all with 35 bedrooms on site to house your guests for the weekend. Couldn't recommend Thicket Priory highly enough - from the support in finding suppliers, coordinating the day and guiding you through the whole process. Thicket really goes above and beyond in ensuring you will have the best day/weekend of your lives. Just WOW!!!

If you’re looking for a unique, magical, utterly stunning wedding venue - then stop looking, you’ve found it. We cannot recommend Thicket Priory more, from our first show around, we were blown away by the beauty and character of the venue, and even more so, how friendly and helpful the staff are.
Our wedding coordinator Jess was amazing in every way, happy to deal with my thousands of questions, never made us feel like anything was too much trouble, and gave us so much helpful advice which proved invaluable to helping our day run as smoothly as possible.
The benefit of being able to have the venue for 2 days is brilliant, it meant we could spend so much time with our guests and haven’t come away worrying there were people we didn’t get chance to speak to.
Every guest has told us how blown away they were by the venue and staff.

Honestly cannot recommend Thicket Priory enough! I know everyone says that their wedding day is the best day of their lives but ours honestly was - it was such a magical weekend and Thicket Priory had a HUGE part to play in this! Becca and the team were / are so amazing! We fell in love with Thicket from our first virtual (covid) tour, it ticked all of our criteria for our wedding and more! We really couldn't fault anything! We want to do our wedding weekend again and again!!

Thicket was the dream wedding venue and I could not recommend them enough. What really makes Thicket so special is the amazing team there. Anna (and the whole team) are brilliant at their jobs and really made the whole process so special and as easy and stress free as possible. From the initial meeting to our wedding day they were attentive, there to answer questions and guide us to the right suppliers. They're just a great laugh to be around too. Anna was there with me the whole way and made planning our wedding so much easier. Nothing was too much and she always knew what to say!

The venue itself is stunning and we loved being able to offer our guests rooms. The attention to detail is excellent and the whole place has been so thoughtfully finished.

No words can accurately describe how magical and breathtaking Thicket Priory is! Becca and her team are the most amazing people and have helped us plan an incredible wedding. They have been attentive to our every needs and have made this week end so special! We will forever remember our time there! We highly recommend Thicket Priory due to its uniqueness, its beauty, its staff professionalism, the beautiful gardens, the romantic rooms everything basically! It was so wonderful to all be together in one place and all the suppliers recommended by Thicket have made our wedding even more special! Highly highly recommend you will not find better! The attention to details was also incredible and we are still on cloud nine even after a month!

What a truly magical, totally unique & stunning venue! When I Googled Top 10 wedding venues in York, the Priory was No 1. I scrolled no further! I knew straight away this was the one. If you want your fairly-tale wedding then this is your place. The house and grounds are so beautiful as well as 'very grand', 'outstanding' & 'classy' (quotes from guests!). They were blown away by how amazing the house is and how it looked, especially the ballroom & morning room all decorated. The Bridal Suite itself is out of this world. All of this coupled with the expertise and help from Anna & Becca then your day will be perfect. Becca looked after us from start to finish and the day ran like clockwork. Can't speak highly enough about this fabulous place and the people that run it. A day to remember. If I could do it all again I really would. Thanks you so so much for making our totally awesome.
