It was originally built as a ropery, making and supplying rope for the empire. The property has been lovingly and carefully restored, keeping the original beams, stonework and brass handrails, preserving the building's vintage charm. Set on the bank of the River Wear, it is the perfect location for your nuptials.
Facilities and Capacity
The large outdoor garden, with meandering cobbled paths and exceptional views over the river offers idyllic photo opportunities. Begin your day with an elegant wedding breakfast hosted in the Banqueting Suite. With a capacity to host up to 100 guests, the space will comfortably accommodate your nearest and dearest. The crystal chandeliers twinkle in the morning sun, creating a fantastical ambience and setting the mood for the day. The Queen Suite is licensed to host civil ceremonies and can host 120 seated guests. This space can also be transformed into a reception party, accommodating up to 140 guests. The red carpet and Chiavari chairs give the room an old Hollywood feel. There is plenty of space for a dance floor and private bar facilities.
