Wedding Venues in Windermere

We had an intimate civil ceremony at Broadoaks County House Hotel in December 2022, and everything was spot on. We couldn’t of asked for more from our wonderful wedding planner Viki, she was on hand throughout the day, as well as the weeks running up to the wedding day. One of the main reasons for choosing Broadoaks is their acceptance of dogs.. we have two Golden Retrievers and it was so important to us to have them with us throughout the day, and they were made so welcome by all the staff 💕

The very best wedding venue we could have hoped for. We were desperate for a wedding venue after last year's cancellation, so checked out the brochure on 4th June last year, had a video tour in the evening, visited on the 6th, booked it and deposit paid on the 9th, we were that impressed by what we saw (admittedly a building site). Risk paid off. The venue were on the ball enough so that the legal ceremony could be outside on the shores of Windermere, so we had an unforgettable occasion - the sounds of the waves breaking, birds in the trees, made for a really natural, wild ceremony. The barn has been done spectacularly, suitable for 60-90 I'd think, with a smart terrace outside with decking overlooking the lawn. There was accommodation for 9 couples, in 3 separate areas, and the best man said it would have been great if it was half as good. It's the little things - there were 25 plug sockets in one room, so it's not like those annoying hotel rooms where you have to put your phone on charge 3 metres away. The communal nature of the cottages makes it great for getting together to chill the night before and getting ready in the morning (some people can't be trusted to dress themselves). It's these little things that made it such a great venue. We chilled out the evening before with a BBQ on the beach, trying out standing up paddle boarding, which due to the size of the venue was away from the thoughts of the wedding the next day. Cheryl and Ness went above and beyond what was required from them, they coped with my mad schemes and there were no hidden costs that popped up (nonsense you get in other venues like having to pay for a dance floor etc). With the effort that has gone into it and the potential in the estate, I think it will get better in the next few years, as the garden area matures. Cheryl was very responsive with questions, and accommodating of any issues we had. I knew of at least a dozen guests who personally mentioned what a great venue it is. No matter what theme you're looking for, you'll not go far wrong with Town Head. The very best wedding venue we could have hoped for. We had our wedding here on Saturday 1st August, Silverholme was the perfect venue and location. We loved spending the whole weekend in the house making it so relaxed, we didn't want to leave. All of our guests commented how beautiful it was, we couldn't have asked for more. A massive thank you for all the help we had in making our day so special. We will be back to stay again! X

To the events team at the Belsfield hotel, We just wanted to say a huge thank you for making our wedding day with you so incredibly special. The service we experienced was second to none, food was beautiful and entire day ran faultlessly thanks to such a wonderful team. We just wanted to say thank you all the staff at Holbeck Ghyll for what was for us a truly wonderful stay and wedding day. Our expectations for our actual wedding day were surpassed. The food was magnificent, the staff wonderful and even the sun shone! As soon as we visited the hotel we knew it was the one! Karen, the Wedding Co-ordinator guided us through every stage of the planning and the team on the day (especially Philip) were outstanding. In short, the food was sublime, the service exceptional, and the location perfect. You won’t get a better setting anywhere! We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending, Holbeck Ghyll to others. What sets it apart is the attention to detail, the ability of the team to accommodate your wishes and be flexible, to create your dream day. Nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be staying again and look forward to returning. Thank you again, for making the most special day of our lives, unforgettable!

We got married at the Low Wood and had our wedding breakfast and evening reception there on August 30th 2003. Joanne Dunning the wedding coordinator was very helpful and allowed us to visit on numerous occasions at short notice. On the day the staff were fantastic and the food was amazing, everyone commented on the quality of the food saying it was the best food they had had at a wedding. A few of our guests also stayed at the Low Wood and they were very impressed with the overall service. The views over the lake are stunning making some wonderful pictures. I definately recommend this as a mid-price venue.

It all started one summers afternoon in Ambleside. Picture the scene two people in love (fueled by alcohol!) saying to one another "If we ever got married wouldn't it be great to marry in the Lakes". On Christmas Day 2001 came the proposal and those drunken words weren't forgotten! We decided on a spring wedding, appointments were made to view various hotels around Windermere for Valentine's weekend in 2002 and we began our search. Although we viewed lots of lovely venues there wasn't really one that stood out for us so feeling disappointed we returned to Bowness to discuss the pros and cons. However, whilst stolling through the village we came across The Old England Hotel quite by accident. In we went to make enquiries and pick up a brochure. Right from this moment we couldn't have asked for more. Michelle Hipwell (their conference & banqueting contact) offered to show us around straight away and from that moment nothing was too much trouble and it felt so right. Michelle our extensive list of questions and we were pencilled in the diary for 10 May 2003. Away we went to discuss what we'd seen and another appointment for a couple of weeks later was made. One of my biggest fears when we decided to get married was all the organisation (especially as we live in Manchester and were marrying away from home) but we couldn't have asked for more. Michelle took all our details and told us not to worry. She could't have been more helpful and we really didn't have anything to worry about. I'm sure we drove her mad with questions, phone calls a various visits but she never showed it and always made time to discuss our needs! She helped us organise everything from rooms for guests, lists of local B & B's, the DJ, photographer, etc, etc, etc - this list is endless. The wedding breakfast and evening buffeet were delicious and we were able to put together a menu that suited us and our guests instead of having to use set menus which had been a problems with other venues especially as I have a dairy allergy. I must also mention Julie who runs the hairdressers in the hotel who did a fantastic job of mine, my 2 bridesmaids and my mums hair. She really helped us all look our best on the day. Due to Michelle's help and organisation when the day finally came I just knew everything would be perfect which helped me remain calm and it was (including the weather). The hotel is lovely and the function rooms are a mixture of old and new. I think the most breathtaking thing about the hotel are the gardens and the backdrop. Situated right on the shores of Windermere with their own private jetty make for beautiful photographs. We really did have the most fantastic day of our lives, and all our guest (young, old, day and evening) were blown away by the most perfect day in the most perfect setting. We couldn't have done it without the help of Michelle and her team and I would recommend the hotel to anyone planning to marry in the Lakes.
