Pandemic weddings - not a problem!
Let me set the scene for you. It’s July 2020, mid pandemic, my now husband and I were frantically trying to pull together a wedding in 2 weeks after our initial May wedding plans were crushed by the UK Covid lockdown. We had slimmed down our guest list from 350 to 25, cancelled our venue, the food, our videographer from the States.
What we were planning on doing wasn’t going to be that special. We were just going to get married and be done with it. The spark of excitement was gone. The wedding was turning into a formality.
My mum suggested a week and a half before the wedding that we should look for another videographer. It wasn’t something that we had really considered since we had given up on that particular aspect back in March. So in a desperate move we asked our photographer if he had any ideas.
Half an hour later we had tons of people replying to our plea to film a wedding at short notice and after wading through videos upon videos, we settled on Aidan.
I spoke to Aidan for an hour and a half on the phone to talk through this day that we were scrambling to put together. His knowledge of weddings was so helpful, he reminded me of what the wedding was about and by talking through the day and sharing ideas, I came away from that initial conversation finally, after months of uncertainty, excited for my wedding day.
He convinced me to take the time to enjoy, to make sure that we had the entire day as a memory – something which I am so very grateful for now.
A week and a half later, we finally said hi to Aidan in person, after Rasi and I had said our vows.
Aidan’s manner is calm and unobtrusive, working around us and the mild chaos that ensues at every wedding. He captured the little moments, the ones which even I don’t remember.
He made us so very comfortable to be ourselves and just enjoy our day. We shared so much laughter and even though the Covid rules were there and followed, the spirit of the day was definitely wedding first and a lot of that was down to Aidan and our photographer.
We got a glimpse of the trailer film when Rasi and I took our mini honeymoon. We were so psyched to see our highlight and feature films.
When I finally watched the highlight film, I shed a couple tears (something I didn’t do at the wedding). The editing was immaculate and the whole thing was such a dream.
After receiving the feature film, we showed this around to people who were unable to make it to our wedding, because of the way the film was put together, it was definitely the next best thing for them to watch to celebrate with us.
When presented with the opportunity to have the documentary film, we couldn’t say no. As someone who watches the behind the scenes footage of the majority of the movies I watch, it was especially interesting to see the footage as it was filmed, and see all the moments that didn’t make it into the main feature film and the moments that did, where they came from.
Aidan, thank you. Words cannot express how much you filming our wedding meant to us. We are forever grateful for all that you did to make our day so much more special than it set out to be.
